The Rock Lays The Smack Down On John Cena…Again

03.01.11 Written by David D.

John Cena put forth a valiant effort last week, but this is just getting unfair. The Rock is so far out of John Cena’s league that, at this point, it’s in the WWE’s best interest to make Rocky stop talking until WrestleMania. Read the rest of this entry »

John Cena Responds To The Rock…With A Battle Rap?

02.22.11 Written by David D.

For the past week, the wrestling world has been eagerly awaiting John Cena’s response to The Rock tearing him apart on Monday Night RAW seven days ago. Cena opened this week’s show with his own 10 minutes to go at the People’s Champ. What a lot of people don’t realize is that this feud is a very real one. Read the rest of this entry »

Finally The Rock Has Come Back To Wrestling!

02.15.11 Written by David D.

The Rock returning to the WWE has been the OutKast reunion album of wrestling. He’s been gone for seven years and a reappearance has seemed more like wishful thinking than anything else. But last night, wrestling got awesome again. Read the rest of this entry »

Fake Wrestling Move Still Looks Awesome

The shooting star press. It’s a move that’s been pretty much banned from WWE since it almost killed Brock Lesnar a few years ago. In fact, only one person, Evan Bourne, is allowed to perform the move. Read the rest of this entry »

Hellfire And Brimstone

02.22.10 Written by David D.

Word on the street is that wrestling is fake. Because of this, people tend to write wrestlers off as grown men in undies pretending to hit each other. Still, these guys take a beating and a lot of them are legitimate badasses.

For example, last night the Undertaker’s pyro malfunctioned, setting him on fire before his match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view last night. I watched the event and didn’t notice. But this home video shows Undertaker catching on fire then hightailing it to the ring.

Here’s the kicker: he finished the match. He must have been in pain and scared out of his mind, but he still went in and performed in a match without any hiccups. Call wrestling fake if you want, but try finishing your job after getting caught in a pyro blast.

The Return Of The Monday Night War

01.04.10 Written by David D.

wwe

For any wrestling fan, there are two glory periods: the 80′s, which brought us the Four Horsemen, Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and a bunch of other wrestlers that dominated our childhoods. The second golden age came in the late 90s, when WCW and WWF (as they were called at the time) faced off head-to-head every Monday night in a ratings battle that brought out the best in both organizations. This era gave us Stone Cold, The Rock, DX, NWO and Goldberg.

Of course, WWE won the war and bought WCW. Wrestling hasn’t been the same since. It’s mostly sucked. But tonight is a possible return to the glory days with TNA (which stands for Total Nonstop Action…pervs) putting on a three-hour show to go head-to-head with WWE Raw. If you’re confused about which one to watch, have no fear, TSS will be your TV guide. Read the rest of this entry »

“Know Your Role…” The Rock’s 5 Greatest Matches

10.07.09 Written by David D.

Dwayne,

I’ve been waiting for you to come back the same way Hip-Hop has been waiting for that new Outkast album or Detox. It’s been about eight years since you were a full-time wrestler and everything I wanted to be in life. You are one of the biggest stars of all time and have the most mainstream success of any wrestler not named Hulk Hogan. Read the rest of this entry »

“The Darkest Day In The History Of Hulkamania”…

09.17.09 Written by Beware

After my top dog bombarded me with trivial unnecessities from the Untold History of the WWE for 15 minutes straight over the phone, I figured I had to check out what he dubbed “the best magazine ever.” One ‘rillo later, I was elongating my raspy dialogue like Randy Savage in agreement. Not only did this Encyclopedia Hitanica of Wrestling bring back great memories, it enlightened me to a few missed moments from periods I was too young to remember. Read the rest of this entry »

“Slammed…” – Former WWE Champion Jeff Hardy Arrested For Drug Trafficking

Well this is a big burlap sack full of stupid.

Jeff Hardy, who has been one of the WWE’s biggest stars over the past year, just left the company two weeks ago for a short hiatus after one of the hottest runs with the title we’ve seen in a long time. That’s fine and dandy. Take a break. Relax. Read the rest of this entry »

“Rugged Neva Smooth Sued…”

10.31.08 Written by David D.

There has been a lot of hoopla over the last few years about the similarities between Hip-Hop and WWE with all of the staged fights, slick talking and fake retirements. What many don’t realize is that there have been a few battles between wrestlers and rappers. And no, I’m not talking about the No Limit Soldiers fiasco from WCW that spawned a music video masterpiece.

Just this week, M.O.P. sued John Cena over the sampling of their song in what is the most recent in a list of rapper versus wrestler courtroom beefs.

“Wrasslin’”

06.16.08 Written by TSSCrew

Words By David D.

When I was checking out the comments on the Wale post from last week, I noticed folks were seemingly out of nowhere sounding off on some nostalgic wrestling moments and characters. As the resident “wrasslin’” fanatic (still watch RAW every single Monday), I decided to help you guys scratch that wrestling itch with a few great DVDs that’ll bring back some great memories.

The Ultimate Ric Flair DVD and Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen

Ric Flair is simply the greatest wrestler to ever walk inside the ring. He hops on the mic and gives absolutely laugh out loud interviews and puts on amazing matches. His Four Horsemen clique was as badass as it gets. The Four Horsemen DVD is a wonderful documentary that explains the group dynamic and what made these guys great. The Ric Flair DVD is moreso a collection of great matches with video of Flair’s promos hyping the events. The Flair DVD features hour long (!!!) matches against Barry Windham and Ricky Steamboat. The gem for anyone feeling nostalgic is the 1992 Royal Rumble in which Flair entered 3rd and lasted an hour to win. The match features the greatest collection of wrestlers in one ring ever: Flair, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Macho Man, Mr. Perfect etc. Each entrant will bring back a new childhood memory.

Shawn Michaels: Heartbreak and Triumph

If Flair is the best wrestler ever, Michaels is widely regarded as right behind him. This DVD is actually an inspirational documentary for wrestling and non-wrestling fans alike as it outlines a performer who fought with personal demons and drug use, while handling the pressure of being the go-to guy for WWE when all the stars left for more money. After a four year absence due to a broken back, Michaels found God, kicked the drugs and returned to the ring. Probably the only wrestling documentary you can watch with the wifey.
