The iPod Shuffle – “Betrayed”

12.24.10 Written by Gotty™

For “Betrayed,” pitfalls and perils push Bad Azz and Webbie to find that undeniable chemistry on wax, the sh*t that seemed lost for so long and could never be replicated with the assortment of Trill weed carriers who’ve attempted to try. Read the rest of this entry »

The Week That Was: The Diddy Can’t Breathe Edition

– Jay Electronica exorcised the ghost Christopher Wallace & got down with the nation of Roc. History suggests he made the right move. It remains to be seen how it affects his career in the long run, but the short term yield benefited the fans.

– Girl Talk shut the internet down on Monday with his aptly-titled All Day.

– Donovan signed a new deal and promptly added more fuel to the ire of Redskin fans before the ink could even dry. Read the rest of this entry »

Acts Of Sabotage: Webbie’s Savage Or Die Mixtape

11.18.10 Written by Gotty™

Before closing up shop on the laptop last night, the latest Webbie mixtape popped up on the radar and the cover art is so tremendously bad that it deserves to presented in some form. Webbie depicted on the cover with grizzly bears? Maybe I watched too much Yogi and Boo-Boo as a kid but I’ve never perceived grizzlies to be perilous creatures. Living near the Smokey Mountains, bear attacks do get mentions on the news here and there but not enough to make me feel threatened. Read the rest of this entry »

Lil Boosie Feat. Lil Trill, Webbie & Foxx – “Better Not Fight” Video

10.21.10 Written by J. Tinsley

There’s always been a love/hate relationship with videos like this for me. Think back to the first time you saw Pac’s “Hail Mary” visual. It was dope because his spirit was still being allowed to haunt Hip-Hop. But it was also depressing because you couldn’t see the physical help paint what the lyrics were portraying. Same thing Boosie’s “Better Not Fight.” Read the rest of this entry »

A Trill Family Movie

10.05.10 Written by J. Tinsley

A quality hood movie is hard to come by. Not the Menance II Society’s, Boyz In Da Hood’s, Juice’s, Paid In Full’s of the world, nah. I’m talking more along the lines of Baller Blockin’ and Killa Season. Trill Entertainment tries their hand at a hood classic on October 26 with the release of Ghetto Stories. Freddie’s Savage Life

02.25.10 Written by J. Tinsley

If the labels really are trying to kill Freddie G, consider TSS the breath of life. Str8 Killa No Filla is coming. In fact, it’s being broken down right now and should be ready for inhaling sooner than you think. The next installment from the tape, “Slammin’,” finds Gibbs resurrecting Webbie’s Savage Life intro, “G-Shit.”

Correct me if I’m wrong. Since the days of 50′s mixtape dominance, there haven’t been many artists who have the ability to take another’s instrumental and create an entirely new feel to the record. Freddie happens to be one who can. The streets are always going to have stories to tell. Gibbs once again plays voice box while speaking on inner-workings of G.I. street life. The good, the bad and the ugly.

“So hoe I’m trappin’ straight from passing whip
From whippin’ white to dealin’ board
Just shipped a gang of stanky to Kankakee, Illinois
So hit me for them demonstrations for yo’ main and ‘em
No conversation, just straight up ventilation for your cranium…”

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that sounds like 2010 trap music.

TSS Presents Fifteen Minutes With Lil’ Boosie

09.02.09 Written by David D.

Lil’ Boosie has been goin’ through some thangs.

The product of Baton Rouge’s streets has never been shy about telling his story. While most casual listeners know Bad Azz for his party singles like “Wipe Me Down” and “Zoom,” his followers know him as the ambassador to the Gulf Coast streets. Though Boosie has been able to leave his neighborhood for greener pastures, his personal life is as tumultuous as ever.

He’s currently under house arrest and facing a trial date set for September 28th while braving a tough promotional schedule and ever-volatile health. Still, Boosie took some time to talk with David D. about his album, Super Bad, his relationship with Webbie, his patented haircut and…interesting details about women.

This is definitely an interview you have to read & see to believe.

TSS: How’s it going man?

Lil’ Boosie: I’m alright, just chillin’ in New York taking care of this album.

TSS: Cool, I just want to start by letting you know I’m from Jackson, MS so–

Lil’ Boosie: So you know my struggle…

TSS: Yea, so let’s get into this album. Why is it called Super Bad?

Lil’ Boosie: Everything is a little better: my rhymes, my production. I got more features than I had last time. I reached out to the ladies more than on the last album. I’m getting more money, I’m more focused. If you’re with Boosie Bad Azz you know what it is. Read the rest of this entry »

“Harry Assh*le”

My Shuffle caught me slippin’.

I avoided this song for THE longest time. But last week while getting my cardio on, I decided to load that Webbie mixtape to see just how terrible the mixing was (it was horrible).

That’s when this song snuck in and just…to be honest, Boosie’s verse, actually everybody’s verse was respectable. With a title like “Harry Asshole,” I expected the song to be an uncomfortable ode to dookie love. Instead, none of the sexually explicit verses strayed from anything too uncommon, detouring onto the Hershey Highway. Everybody’s except one. Read the rest of this entry »

“I Grind” – Review Of Paul Wall’s Fast Life

05.27.09 Written by MZ

Grind would have to be the best word to describe the Houston Hip-Hop scene. It’s prevalent in both the lyrics and general maneuverings of most artists from the area. Paul Wall is no exception as he’s back with his third album, eager to let the world know he’s still on the block posted like a mailbox. Full of tales on grinding, gripping grain and late night endeavors; he unveils very little more about who he is at a point in his career when most artists begin to define who they are. Sadly, instead of aiming for higher heights, he’s still caught up in living the Fast Life. Read the rest of this entry »
