Cop: Timberland Gore-Tex 7 Eyelet Chukka 25th Year Anniversary Edition

10.21.10 Written by Gotty™

These Timberlands are amazing and hail from a time before synthetic materials and mass production goals took precedence over quality products & craftsmanship. And while I know others show favor & loyalty to new styles and other brands, Timberland’s handsewn series of chukkas & moccasins are a can’t fail option when shopping for a versatile boot that provides both fashion and function.

“Back in 1994 I started working as a stock-boy in one of the most influential shoe stores in Nyc, David Z. on 8th st. between 5th and 6th Ave. I remember re-stocking this one Timberland style over and over again, I even remember the Stock# the salesmen used for reference, it was J-94. After a few weeks I started opening boxes to see the goods i was working with and I opened this box first. That week I spent half of my check on my first pair of Timberlands, the boots that literally changed my life.

“I could honestly say this was the pair which made me appreciate leathers and craftsmanship. Originally released in 1985, Its thick 3H leathers(thickest leather available), waxed canvas, a Gore-Tex fabric bootie(very few companies used this lining), raw hide leather laces and Vibram soles put these boots way ahead of the competition 25 years ago and it’s amazing to see there is still no match.

“2.5 years ago I asked Timberland to bring this boot back in an exclusive offering. The deal was it had to be made with the same exact materials and made with the same tooling used on the original version in 1985. 8 months ago I got the nod and here it is. My favorite Timberland boot. Priced at $190, these boots will be available tomorrow 10am Est. at the David Z. flagship (556 Broadway between Prince and Spring st. 212.431.5450) as well as online on Davidz.com Shots by @Sqmunro.”

Coming Attractions: Timberland Newmarket 9 Eye Boot

09.20.10 Written by Gotty™

I’m not 100% certain on the product name for this new Timberland model and there’s very little additional info but I love the styling, which takes its cues the Cookies. But based on the snapshots, I’ll take a educated guess and say that they’re using leather that sh*ts all over the flimsy leather that Lo’s using right now. Read the rest of this entry »

10.Deep x Timberland “The Mighty Ducks”

04.01.10 Written by Gotty™

Thank the Lord winter is pretty much over, otherwise I’d succumb and cop. Who am I kidding? I’ll probably still be online tomorrow with these in the shopping cart, debating on pulling the trigger. I say that because I spent half the winter looking for a similarly styled boot from Timberland to no avail.

“We are kicking off a year of collaborative design projects in honor of our 15th Anniversary with “The Mighty Ducks”, our first foray into footwear, courtesy of the good people at Timberland. The boots’ design mixes a classic Timberland silhouette with detailing inspired by the perennial classic duck boot. Read the rest of this entry »

Timberland x Saks Fifth Boat Shoe Collection

03.24.10 Written by Gotty™

Whether you’re an accepted wearer of boat shoes or not, the staple shoe of the upper crust has found a home as one of the style trends. For this collection, Timberland partners with Saks Fifth Avenue to deliver several newer colors to the palette.

“Timberland Company and Saks Fifth Avenue is going to announce their continued partnership with the arrival of exclusive co-branded handsewn boat shoes at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores worldwide. Design styles include footwear from the Timberland Boot Company and Abington collections, made with materials such as Charles F. Stead & Co. suedes and rich Horween leathers. In addition, a line of handsewn boat shoes, co-branded and exclusive to Saks, will be available in bold spring and summer colors – green, purple, orange and navy. The boat shoes have a suggested retail price of $120 USD.”

Deal Alert: Nike ACG Ashiko’s

02.06.10 Written by MZ

Between Gotty ™, and to a lesser extent Contra™ & I, a fair amount of sneakers get posted around here.  Sadly, for as much as I enjoy them, I probably haven’t worn a pair since the middle of November.  Once autumn gets in full swing, I pull the boots out from the recesses of my closet and don’t look back until things clear up in the spring.  So partly due to my affinity for choice (& partly because it’s good for your feet and shoes to switch up daily), I try to keep at least five pairs of boots at my disposal.  They used to be all leather Timberlands, but since they’ve become harder and harder to locate in person I’ve grown partial to Nike Boots.

The AM90 boots were what I got into first and I’ve gradually shifted to the Goadomes.  They’re both great boots, but tend to be on the heavy side.  So I’ve had my eye on the ACG Ashiko’s since they were first posted here.  The only real problem with these was that pesky $179.99 price tag.  I’ve got no problem copping boots, but I refuse to pay full price for anything but a pair of wheat Timbs. I’m glad I waited until two weeks ago and was able to score mine from Finishline for $79.99.  The Flywire make these feel like I’m wearing a pair of runners and they still keep your feet warm.  With their higher cut on the ankle, I’d compare them to the Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2K’s.  Now, I’m not gonna lie and say how well they do in the snow, but for regular cold day these bad boys will do the trick.  Then save the heavy duty joints for when you have to trek out in 7″ of snow.

And doing a quick check to their website, they’re now down to $47.99 for the Flint Grey/Black/Beet & Anthacrite/Orange/Green Spark colorways.  So if you were on the fence about these or were waiting for a price drop… what I’m trying to say is that time is of the essence.  And if you don’t  see your size or like those colorways, I’d suggest keeping  an eye over at Footaction & Footlocker, they’re still stubbornly trying to hawk theirs off  for $149.99 & $129.99 respectively, like winter is still just around the corner.

With the price already so low, here’s a perfect chance to head to a brick & mortar Finishline and fine tune your haggling techniques.

Timberland For Starks

timberland-boots-for-starks-2

After receiving a sneak peek of these a few weeks back, the full unveiling is today. Working with Timberland’s 3-eye handsewn as the base model, a highly-approved choice, the devil is ultimately in the details.

“Featuring a black corduroy collar and eyestay with yellow gold eyelets. Brown suede plug, vamp, and heel. Stained leather welt, with a honey rubber outsole. Black waxed laces, with a yellow gold “Starks” branded aglet. Read the rest of this entry »

Rugged Sole…

12.07.09 Written by Gotty™

I’ve come to the realization that my style is a mix of Elvin Tibideaux, Theodore Huxtable and a dash of Cliff. Yes, a mix of down vests, wool sweaters, boots of varying shapes and sizes and layers, sweatshirts and runners.

Do remember that fresh need not cost a bundle. There’s been a slowing down on sneaker posts, mainly because there’s been fewer decent pairs coming out. That plus I’ve been more in “winter shoe” mode and right now these compose part of my winter rotation.

timbs-nbs-ll-beans-1100

– Grey 991′s are a staple. Unfortunately, New Balance discontinued them so…well that’s not all the way bad because that means there’s a surplus floating around that can be had for way under the original retail ticket. Should remain that way for a while to come but snag them while they’re available.

– The Timbs are the 3-eye handsewns. Since I haven’t worn 6″s in ages and rarely break out my field boots anymore, I’ve opted for different styles of Timberlands. Watch for the Starks version that’s releasing soon too plus there’s a mid that’s even more fierce than this lowcut but I got tired of waiting for a size 12 to magically appear. (You can still get 40% off your orders through midnight today, 12.7 by using the code FFDEC9 on Timberland.com).

– L.L. Bean gumshoes aka the duck boots I was guffawing about a month or two ago, simply because they’re ill. Word to the wise: size down. I wear a 13 in sneakers, a 12 in boots and an 11 in these joints.

Luckily, none of these cost more than $75 including shipping. A combination of smart shopping with coupons and simply waiting on sales. Patience is a virtue. And when you’re pinching pennies, it’s your best asset in your quest to stay Fresh and pay less.

Timberland x Starks

11.19.09 Written by Gotty™

starks-timberland-3-eye-handsewn-classic-shoe-preview

Image: Hypebeast

Starks keeps creating it and this time they’ve gone a little further than laces, teaming up with footwear legends Timberland for this three-eye handsewn shoe. No full pics yet but I’ve got a solid guess that those that favor and remember the Lo lifestyle of the 90′s will fawn for these when the full pics surface.

Slated for release in December with more info before then. For future updates, bookmark www.starkslaces.com.

And pay attention to us too. I keep forgetting I got a whole batch of laces I’ve been meaning to give you all. Watch for that in a couple of days.
