Madonna Feat. Justin Timberlake – “Across The Sky”

01.22.10 Written by Beware

Who says Timbaland’s saving all the good beats for himself?

What was once probably a potential single for The Material Girl’s last album, the Justin Timberlake-assisted “Across The Sky” wound up collecting cobwebs in Madonna’s vajayjay vocal vaults and has now resurfaced for really no reason at all. On second thought, maybe Timbo leaked this polysonic piece of Hard Candy to save Read the rest of this entry »

“Tomorrow In A Bottle…”

01.19.10 Written by TSSCrew

At TSS, we mostly avoided discussion of Timbaland’s Shock Value II. If Timbo’s done with Hip-Hop then why not be done with him?

More importantly, the album could definitely have been a cornerstone in TC’s latest Brick House. Timbo’s wholesale fascination with making fluffy teen pop by bringing in the latest idols du jour degrades the man’ legacy. This is the same guy that made “Dirt Off Your Shoulder?” Read the rest of this entry »

Timbaland Feat. Katy Perry – “If We Ever Meet Again”

01.18.10 Written by Gotty™

Do they still show “TRL”? If so, this song should skyrocket to the top for sure. It’s one of those Top 40 pop confections that will probably play @ proms and graduations for the class of 2010. The video doesn’t make total sense. All I got is there’s some crooks and a game of cat & mouse. But that’s nothing that glimpses of Katy Perry can’t cure. Read the rest of this entry »

Timbaland Feat. Drake – “Say Something” Video

12.09.09 Written by MZ

Here’s Tim’s latest visual as he begins his conquest of the pop charts and Mitzvah’s the world over.  Shock may not be the apt word to use, unless were discussing Mr. Mosley’s shocking mastery of Pop music, but Shock Value II is in stores now.  Drake makes his obligatory appearance in yet another Hip-Hop video.  And if you look closely you can actually see the marionette strings on Drake around the 3:39 mark.

The Trend Continues: Camp Leaks II

Damnit, Timbo. Not again, man. It feels like we just went through this a week ago when BP3 was springing a leak quicker than suspects on “First 48.” Now your own work for Shock Value 2 is leaking and “Believe It Or Not” featuring Hip-Hop’s Oscar De La Hoya (“Golden Boy”) is on every site imaginable and there goes the element of surprise right out the window. Today’s Timewaster: Timbaland’s Beaterator (ll)

10.03.09 Written by S.Cadet

No, it’s not a long lost cousin to the shake weight.

Instead it’s a hip-hop game/app made for the iPhone and PSP. Rockstar Games hired Timbaland as the front man for this enterprising project. Aside from getting paid, Timbo produced some sounds exclusive to the program that users can manipulate to their heart’s content. It’s designed to be relatively easy to pick up but also packs some advanced features like pitch shift, time stretch, and voice recording. There hasn’t been any confirmation on Autotune making an appearance but early signs point to no. Don’t fret, you could turn to T-Pain’s app if you’re aching for some portable auto-crooning.

Aspiring beat makers can upload and share their beats from the game to Rockstar’s Social Club. I’m not sure if it’ll let you export songs like more fully fledged programs or have as big of an impact as something like FL Studio. Beaterator doesn’t seem like it’s aiming towards that crowd anyway. If anything it looks like a decent program to mess around with when you’re bored. The PSP version is out now and the iPhone version will launch later this year.

Not a bad idea… but c’mon Timbo, you guys couldn’t have thought of a better name? Maybe Beat Club (ll)… scratch that, keep it like it is.

“On To The Next One” – Review Of Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3

09.11.09 Written by MZ

jay-z-the-blueprint-3

For over a decade Jay-Z has been at the epicenter of Hip-Hop’s ever changing landscape. Through a combination of auspicious events and astute maneuvers, he set the pace for the genre on a mainstream level with air of affluence. Which in turn allowed him to set and break trends at will with even the slightest mention. At his peak, he released 2001′s The Blueprint; an album that made Hip-Hip take a 180° turn sonically. Unfortunately, no matter how far ahead of the curve you are, the field eventually catches up, forcing you to push further ahead or fall in line. With the release of his 11th studio album, The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z looks to stay ahead of the pack. Read the rest of this entry »

Consecutive Classics: “Church For Thugs” & “Put You On The Game”

09.07.09 Written by TSSCrew

the-game-the-documentary-cccWords by Jesse H.

The most overlooked factor in crafting a good album (especially in the playlist era of music) is the sequencing. A staple of notable 4.5/5 Cig albums is having two great songs sequenced consecutively (the really notable ones often have strings of three). In this (hopefully) recurring feature, we’ll be examining old albums which have two songs perfectly sequenced back-to-back. Read the rest of this entry »
