01.24.12 Written by Beware

You know how every sporting event starts with a clip-show of the prior game’s highlights? Well, even though Chi-Town duo The Paxtons released their Avenue B project today, they’ve also just dropped a video to one the stand-out tracks off their previous effort, Avenue A Read the rest of this entry »

The Paxtons – Avenue A

09.13.11 Written by Gotty™

The Paxtons release Avenue A as the first in what’s slated to be a four-part series. As a big believer in and long-time supporter of Chris and Dave’s material, it’s good to see the duo delivering music with more frequency as I often felt like time between previous projects could have helped more than hurt them. The Week That Was: The H.A.M. Edition

Kanye and Jay-Z went “H.A.M.” and we wondered if people will ever take the time to learn of its true origins.

– DJ Burn One managed to get Rittz, Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. together on one track. The outcome was amazing. White Jesus dropping soon. Read the rest of this entry »

“As Told To…” -The Paxtons’ The Manhattan Project

01.11.11 Written by MZ

It’s always easy to write up a song when it comes along by itself or you haven’t heard anything from the artist in awhile. But choosing a song to highlight from a mixtape can be quite the conundrum, especially when there are several standout tracks. That’s where I found myself when time came to highlight The Paxtons’ Manhattan Project. One particular car trip found I was settled on “What We Doin’ (Ballin),” but then on the ride back home, “Livin A Movie” stayed on repeat. The next day, I found myself relating heavily to “Money Right.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Paxtons Take Manhattan

09.08.10 Written by Gotty™

Chris & Dave, collectively known as The Paxtons, told me they had progressed much since we released Work with them in internet ages ago. Truthfully, I knew Work didn’t get the full attention it deserved nor was it as polished as it could have been. But for two upstarts, I was proud to be affiliated with the project because it painted their identity & influences in full color Read the rest of this entry »

The Paxtons – “Theme Music” Video

04.14.10 Written by Gotty™

On an average, we get more than our fair share of requests to throw our support behind projects. In the end, we turn the majority of them down for a variety of reasons. No sense in devaluing the brand we’ve managed to build up by haphazardly co-signing weak sauce. But with Dave & Chris, The Paxtons, things were different. The were completely unheard to us. Yet, the skill level, the vision they possessed for the project & the music, it all came together to make us (or at least me) say “yeah, these guys have a piece of music I’d like to be a part of.”

In the end, they smashed it with WORK! The whole packaging and presentation (I still wear my shirt to this day). The Shannon Muir directed video for “Theme Music” just cements the project as one of those where I’m glad we made the right decision. Read the rest of this entry »

Another leak from The Paxtons upcoming Work project, entitled “Theme Music.” No choruses, no hooks, bridges or singing. Just straight-foward spit from Chris and Dave over a dark, brooding beat founded on a stripped-down, live (yes, live) bassline.
