The Boondocks: 3X The Dope

11.09.10 Written by TC

The only thing better than The Boondocks is The Boondocks uncensored, uncut with one of those unflattering TV-MA logos plastered on the front. Sorry Adult Swim but grown-ups like their entertainment without inhibitions and little fuzzy things over nipples. If you’re looking to share some mature humor with the extended fam this holiday season, The Boondocks: Season 3 just hit stores in all its immature albeit thought-provocative glory. E-40 Now Has A Soapbox Too, Gotty™

06.18.10 Written by TC

It’s painfully obvious Gotty™ and E-40 have the same mailman and argue about whose hedges cross the lines of the residency. He too, now has a soapbox. When he’s not signing CDs for you to win, E-40 can be found tuning into The Boondocks as they give him plenty ideas for his new age hustlin’ of Revenue Retrievin’. Read the rest of this entry »

Riley’s Moment Of Truth

06.15.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Look, I’m a big fan of The Boondocks. I’ll even admit I never actually read the comic strip until after the first season. Backwards, I know. That being said, Aaron McGruder is alright in my book and I’ll support damn near anything the guy does. For the most part, a lot of the comments regarding this season were somewhat lukewarm. Support Young Reezy!

06.13.10 Written by Gotty™

As a thanks for a donation, McGruder* sent over a candy bar on behalf of the Young Reezy Fun-Raiser Corporation. As a “for profit” group, a portion of the proceeds go towards “keeping gangs and guns away from animals.” Read the rest of this entry »

Do You Know “The Story Of Jimmy Rebel”?

05.21.10 Written by Gotty™

Uhm…anybody want to let me know how I’m supposed to think/feel after viewing this Boondocks promo for Sunday night’s episode? Ask me about the books or the strip, I can tell you a thing or two about a thing or two. The cartoon is always hard for me to get a grasp on, being torn between laughing & shaking my head. The Week That Was: The Title Stays In Harlem Edition

05.08.10 Written by MZ

– After all the posturing and jive talk, Jim Jones & Co. took home the Band Of Ballers Crown for the second straight year. Best part is nobody was tased like in Philly. So much for all Black functions ending in violence.

Is this the cover of the most anticipated Rap album of the year?

– Back like it never left The Boondocks (& Uncle Ruckus) had the internet going nuts with their antics.

– This Just In: Kobe Bryant Is Not Gay. Wish we could say the same about the first round of the NBA playoffs. Read the rest of this entry »

The Most Racist 20 Minutes Of Your Life

05.06.10 Written by David D.

Uncle Ruckus is quickly becoming a national treasure. Michael Steele’s first cousin and future Governor of Arizona took to Shade 45 to field calls and launch racist tirades against everyone brave enough to speak on the air. There are just so. many. quotables. My favorite part comes when Ruck promises that the show is going to take shots at Tyler Perry a.k.a. “That n***a that makes all them movies ‘Aww Lawd A N***a Done Went To The Wedding Again.’”

If you’re sensitive, don’t watch. You’ve been warned. Pansy. Read the rest of this entry »

Now I Have A Real Soapbox

05.05.10 Written by Gotty™

The FedEx driver came today bearing unsolicited gifts. I was really waiting on the UPS doo-doo truck to deliver a pair of Air Max+ 2009′s today but I think this is just as good if not better. Is it better when you’re not expecting something? I do know that the only thing that could have made it sweeter is if McGruder had carved his name in it somewhere. Read the rest of this entry »

The Truth Is Back

05.03.10 Written by J. Tinsley

No word yet on what the actual ratings were, but those for the season three premiere of The Boondocks had to be through the roof. In a span of 30 minutes (22 if you include commercials), Aaron McGruder’s creation appeared not to miss a beat as they poked and prodded at the historic election of Barack Obama – including the controversial Will.I.Am. single, “D#ck Riding Obama.”

Regardless whether you agree, were massively offended or find yourself on the fence, it’d be hard to argue the idea behind the episode did not hold some truth behind it. With that said, TSS has our own opinion of the program’s return. We’re interested to know how you received the episode.

No need for one word responses either. We all know real aggins don’t follow directions anyway.

And since you’re here, may as well pick up this Dub Floyd, Wally Sparks, HighOffLife.com and BoondocksBootleg.com co-signed mixtape. Hosted by Asheru, David Banner and Mike Bigga, this “unofficial official” project features music from Mikkey Halsted, Saukrates, Jay Rock, Big K.R.I.T., Raheem DeVaughn, Laws and more.

Aaron McGruder Is Lazy

04.30.10 Written by Gotty™

How do you get railed by characters you created? Not sure but Aaron McGruder ends of up on the receiving end of a profane rant by Stinkmeaner for taking too long to bring back The Boondocks.

Season Three begins Sunday on Adult Swim; go ahead & set your reminders. Read the rest of this entry »

The Week That Was: The Where’s “Under Pressure”? Edition

04.10.10 Written by MZ

I know you spend a lot of time in the studio Dre, but what’s up?  By your appearance at Fenway on Sunday to peddle your headphones with Jimmy, I’m pretty sure you didn’t think yesterday was April 1st did you?  We’ve all come to grips in our own way about whether Detox is fact or fiction, so don’t play with man.  Say Detox is coming soon all you want, but don’t give us titles & dates with no intention of following up.  We’ll welcome your music with open arms, but until then we’ll find other ways to keep ourselves entertained.  Daddy Fat Sacks filled the void pretty nicely this week. The Boondocks Take On Tiger Woods

04.09.10 Written by Gotty™

A society without satire & a sense of humor is a sad sad state. It’s that bit of edge that helps us all keep from taking ourselves too seriously. It’s what we missed during Aaron McGruder’s (and “The Boondocks”) sabbatical. That sharp sense & ability to take entities to task, calling them on their bs actions. But as they’re set to return to TV screens come early May, they’re sharpening their swords by providing their witty critique to Nike’s eery “ghost of Earl Woods” commercial as their target. The Boondocks Season 3 Trailer

04.05.10 Written by Gotty™

These unofficial updates from Boondocks Bootleg keep getting better each time around. The trailer for season three of “The Boondocks” hit YouTube, using “Exhibit C” as the backing track and the phrase “The truth is back” as part of it’s slogan. And it looks like all of the favored animated rapscallions and rebels will be back bringing the ruckus come May 2nd on Adult Swim. Read the rest of this entry »

The Week That Was: The Spring Has Sprung Edition

The weather’s broken and it’s no more appreciated than here at TSS.  The boots have been put away and the sneakers are out. Wireless hotspots & internet cards begin to look like sound investments when the sun begins to shine through the windows. Through it all, the content continues to fly fast and furious. Huey, Riley…And Dave?

03.29.10 Written by J. Tinsley

A couple of weeks ago LC recited one of the commandments TSS was founded upon some five years ago: Dave Chappelle is an unquestioned genius. Because of this, Dave is one person I’ve always hoped would reemerge. He won’t, I know, but let’s just say he did decide return. Where would it be? What would he do? And is there anything even worth Dave even taking his time to step back into the lab? You damn right there is. Read the rest of this entry »
