The Black Keys – “Gold On The Ceiling” Video

02.07.12 Written by AJ

Featuring throngs of adoring fans rocking out at lives shows, “Gold On The Ceiling” is classic Keys, a good gateway song for those trying to get hip to the best name in rock. My Weekend With The Black Keys’ “El Camino”

12.11.11 Written by Ryan J.

Rock music lost its identity over the past decade somewhere between The White Stripes and Nickelback.

In the past 10 years, bands such as The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Stripes (not so much Nickelback) have made worthwhile cases. Unfortunately, all have either A.) disbanded and/or B.) strayed from the simple, dirty aesthetics that made them great in the first place. In that decade Akron’s The Black Keys has varied slightly in sound (from modernized Delta blues to experimental Zeppelin-esque R&B) but has remained the only noticeable constant. The Black Keys Release “Lonely Boy” Video, The First Single From “El Camino”

10.26.11 Written by Ryan J.

Pharoahe Monche once said, “f*ck the white boys because The Black Keys have so much soul,” so it was only a matter of time before the Keys shared some more of that soul with the world. This morning they released “Lonely Boy,” the first single off their upcoming LP, El Camino. There’s not much rhyme nor reason to the video, but the marketing behind the new album has shown little anyways. However, this lack of visual aesthetic places full emphasis on the 330 Boys’ musical project, which is typical Keys: wanton guitar riffs and batty drum kicks. Seven albums in and it’s apparent that they still have plenty of “soul” to spare.

El Camino is Christmas-come-early on December 6. Pre-order it now and get an instant download of “Lonely Boy.”

The Black Keys Release “El Camino” Album Cover & Tracklisting

10.11.11 Written by Gotty™

Well, that was a pretty snappy turnaround. Less than 24 hours after dropping their viral, spoof ad, the Keys decided to break out the El Camino album cover and tracklisting. The album will feature 11 tracks, all featuring production by Danger Mouse and tracked at band member Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Studio in Nashville. Read the rest of this entry »

The Black Keys Use A Car Ad To Announce New “El Camino” Album

10.11.11 Written by Ryan J.

Revamp & Release: 7 Potentially Great Black Keys Remixes

03.29.11 Written by Ryan J.

It might be too easy to pigeonhole The Black Keys’ musical identity as a pair of working-class rockers from Akron, Ohio whose distinct blues-rock flavor distinctly outlines their product. Don’t let the obvious influences of blues-rock luminaries such as Muddy Waters fool the ear. Hip-Hop plays just as important a role in the Keys’ tunes as men like Waters. DJ Wick-It – “Everlasting Shine Blockaz” Video

The Brothers of Chico Dusty: Big Boi x The Black Keys Mash-Up

12.22.10 Written by Gotty™

Two of the year’s best albums – Big Boi’s Sir Luscious… and The Black Keys’ Brothers – mashed and thrown together? As twisted as the idea sounds, turntabilist Wick-It’s ballsy concoction yields pretty surprising results as Antwan Patton sounds like a lost Keys’ band member. If you’re sketchy, check “You Ain’t The Next DJ” and “Everlasting Shine Blockaz” for reference and then act accordingly. As Big says, it’s “a lil somethin to say Stank you to the music lovers” and we thank him back. Read the rest of this entry »

Freddie Gibbs – “Oil Money” Video

While LeBron bolted for South Beach this summer, another all-star team was forming in LBJ’s former region: the Rust Belt (and Austin, TX) super squad of Freddie Gibbs, Chuck Inglish, Chip Tha Ripper, Bun B and The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. The Black Keys – “Too Afraid To Love You”

08.29.10 Written by K1NG

It’s funny how accurately a piece of art can hit home with the person enjoying it. This attribute is what makes art such an addictive entity. When a song is easy enough for a listener to relate to, it can cause for self-reflection or be cause for self-realization. Either way, the music takes on a whole new meaning and becomes much more than just notations and lyrics. Read the rest of this entry »
