Royce was definitely seeing stars when he blacked out on like 85% of Street Hop last year so why not keep the momentum going with a re-release? And for the record, I’m a fan of re-releases especially when the project was worthy yet slept-on. The album may have decreased in monetary significance over the years, but few can deny the calibration it stacks onto an artist’s creative worth. Who can come the most original, pick the best beats, wedge through that sliver of possibility of reinventing the wheel, all of those ideals factor into who’s really running this rap ish. Fact: Royce Da 5’ 9’’ is a hell of a rapper. His mixtapes, guest appearances, and Slaughterhouse verses have provided enough material to spawn legions of Internet stans. Yet, Royce has always had to battle critics who questioned his rather limited profile of full-length albums. The DJ Premier produced “Shake This” is the lead-single for Street Hop (the LP is also executive produced by DJ Premier as well) and the video for “Shake This” is directed by Rik Cordero; and its the first of two collaborations between Royce and Cordero.
