If pictures are truly worth a thousand words, the one cemented above could be worth well over a million. Outside of the birth of HBO and Atari amongst other things, 1972 represented the year the Los Angeles Lakers finally came full circle. Read the rest of this entry »

The Vest Has Left The Building: Jim Tressel Resigns As Ohio State Football Coach

05.31.11 Written by MZ

While fighting off equal parts of sleep and boredom on a slow Memorial Day at work, one of my co-workers scrolling through Facebook mentioned that Jim Tressel had resigned. Naturally, I went right to ESPN and my initial reaction was laughter. Read the rest of this entry »

How Derrick Rose Became A Killer

03.03.11 Written by J. Tinsley

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend the Bulls/Heat thriller in Chicago thanks to a really good friend and frat brother of mine. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why I jumped at the chance. But as much as I wanted to see LeBron play, witnessing the human pinball that is Derrick Rose was equally as anticipated. Framed For Murder: How Terry Harrington Beat The Odds

01.27.11 Written by S.Cadet

Terry Harrington, a former high school football standout from Omaha, Nebraska, is far from a household name. His story, however, is worthy of more exposure, let alone the big screen. Harrington, if not for some divine intervention, would still be serving life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Thankfully, he’s a free man giving back to his community as a youth football coach. Read the rest of this entry »

Hilary Rhoda Got Robbed!

02.11.10 Written by Gotty™

No offense to my Gemini brother Beware because I like Brooklyn too. But I’ve never been a huge fan of chesticles. Never understood the fascination with them aside from the occasional glance down a blouse here or there. I’m not even sure if my mom breastfed me so maybe it stretches all the way back to my infancy.

But I’ve always been a fan of eyes. Sweet, seductive, alluring eyes. Eyes that tell a story. Searing, peering eyes that say “If you touch me, I’ll scald you…but you’ll love every moment of it.” Hilary Rhoda has those eyes (among other prominent features). And in my eyes, she should’ve snagged that SI cover. Then again, Bar Refaeli as a repeat covergirl or even Damaris Lewis wouldn’t have been slouch choices either.

Yes, Brooklyn’s In The House

02.09.10 Written by Beware

On account of the engulfing amount of actually-naked women available upon a click of my mouse, I can’t say I’m too caught up by the new SI Swimsuit Edition cover.

Still, for the sake of disparagingly having to tag posts NSFW, I figured I’d share this with the hopes that those of us who simply want to stick it to The Man will blatantly flaunt and share this titillating spread of Andy Roddick’s love bunny, Brooklyn Decker, for all in the office to see. I mean, if your grandma can catch glimpses of those exposed ta-ta-liciouses while picking up her Fixodent at the local Walgreens, then making this your computer’s wallpaper should be as harmless as that unopened O’Douls I keep in the back seat of my car to continually confuse cops.

“No, officer, actually…I haven’t been drinking.”

Heart Of The City…

01.14.09 Written by Beware

Detroit Industry.

My mom had minor surgery this past week, so today I did my duty as a loving son and called to check up. Disregarding the call as business-as-usual, she asked if I’d gotten a chance to read Mitch Albom’s feature from the latest issue of Sports Illustrated. She spoke on the article with a tone that made me feel it was my duty to read it.

“It’s about Detroit,” she said, as if nothing worthwhile had ever been written about the city where she was born and raised. She told me how the piece been reissued to the front page of The Freep as well, knowing I don’t read much more than a computer screen these days. “I’ll save it for you.”

“Detroiters Carry On Amid All The Hardships”

From the title alone I knew it was going to be much more than a sports story or some rehashed, Lions, year-end resentment. Mitch knows better than that. What it ended up being was one of the best pieces of literature I’ve ever read. Read the rest of this entry »
