Sandman’s been making a push for his upcoming Mt. Crushmore mixtape but my chances of listening to it have been minimal given the amount of material released over the past two weeks. If “Armed & Dangerous” is an indicator, the project should be everything expected: Read the rest of this entry »
Despite his name, Sandman never sleeps and seems to be consistently working. Read the rest of this entry »
In all honesty, Sandman had never really caught my ear outside of his work with the Re-Up Gang, but his latest track to hit the net, “Just A MC,” is tough. The drum pattern grabs the listener’s ear immediately with a rambunctious combination of punchy kicks and dry snares that the Philly MC proceeds to ravage through like a speedboat in a creek. One of Philly’s finest yet unheralded, Sandman. Here, he jack his old cronies Clipse’s “Kinda Like A Big Deal” beat for this clip, off his upcoming Heart Of The City mixtape. Read the rest of this entry »

Words By Prop Jay
Maybe after his last release, Sandman is able to find his game again and hit us with some fire. If this track is representative of what is coming it’s a good start. Read the rest of this entry »
What a juxtaposition.
First a Clipse tape, then a Sandman tape. In the big scheme of things, add this with Sand’s last tape & you have more material in a six month span than dude was allowed to release during his whole tenure as a member of Re-Up Gang. Not a bad break in the big scheme of things. I guess the same could be said for Roscoe too, but son had his own share of self-imposed hiatuses here & there.
As my Uncle Jr. says “I’d rather go to Hell on my own than to follow the crowd into Heaven.”
Word up.

So…Sandman is apparently leaving Re-Up Gang.
Am I the only one who’s not surprised at all?
I half expected it to happen sooner upon realizing how “established” San was, solo. After he missed a couple of pivotal promo appearances for that disgustingly underwhelming album (eugh © Pusha), it became clear that Sandman had both feet outside the door and Read the rest of this entry »
Sandman has decided to be his own “Anchor,” actively pushing his new mixtape & just dropping this video for the track.

So what the Re-Up Gang album was a slight bore?
I was only in it to hear Sandman anyways. Seems like he heard my cries & decided to release another mixtape. Read the rest of this entry »
Some of life’s pleasures are best kept simple: rum & Coke, dinner and a movie, T&A. Lyrically, there’s nothing primitive about Malice and Pusha T, the blood brothers who make up Virginia rap duo, the Clipse. However, they have a rudimentary musical formula: Hard-ass beats and skillful rhymes about pushin’ weight. It’s a recipe that made albums like the platinum-plated Lord Willin’ and the masterful Hell Hath No Fury so appealing. To tide over the fiends eagerly awaiting their next cook-up, Malice and Pusha T have partnered with Koch Records to release Clipse Presents: Re-Up Gang. The Clipse make up one half of Re-Up Gang; the other members are Philadelphia rappers Ab-Liva (of Major Figgas fame)Â and Sandman. But instead of a full fledged Re-Up Gang compilation, the quartet take the easy way out, rehashing plenty of material from their latest mixtape, We Got it 4 Cheap: Vol. 3.
