See, 2.5 Cigs & an C- aside, I still hold beliefs that Ace Hood isn’t a bad rapper. J. Tinsley went into greater detail earlier and to avoid reiterating the same points, the Ruthless project is done, son.

No need to promote any further. Third time’s supposedly the charm right?

For those who may not know, Ace Hood’s sophomore album, Ruthless, wasn’t half bad. It wasn’t half good either. Anyway, “Born An O.G.” featuring Luda happens to be one of the standout tracks, yet serves as a gift and a curse for Khaled’s pride and joy. You see, it’s a gift because the record is pretty damn nice and sounds great when you have the windows down and the volume up. However, it’s bad because someone in the studio that night figured it would be a great idea if Luda went first.

What a difference 6 months can make. Regardless of whether the stars were aligned or back room deals took place, Ace Hood was poised for the short track to success. Backed by DJ Khaled, Rick Ross & the Def Jam machine, his inclusion in XXL’s ‘08 Top Ten Freshman Class, coincided with the release of his debut album Gutta. Looking to build upon the tepid response to it, he’s already back with his sophomore effort Ruthless. After the expeditious completion of his freshman year, it’s time for him to declare a major and stop the exploratory nature of being undecided.

Ace’s biggest problem is his lack of identity. One minute he’s the ultimate hustler controlling the corner, the next minute he’s the ladies man and in between he’s deadest on convincing he came up so destitute that you’d be a fool not to root for his success. Young Antoine is trying to improve on that C- Professor David awarded him with for his sophomore effort Ruthless. Will he make the grade? Time will only tell.
