Jay-Z Reveals The Secrets To Creating A Classic Song

06.01.11 Written by J. Tinsley

There was a reason we ran through the 20 biggest airballs of Jay-Z’s career. It’s because listing his top 20 game winners is like saying Sarah Palin will sweep the minority vote in 2012. If you know what I know about the behind the scenes workings at TSS, that e-mail chain would be miles long with no real conclusion in sight. Read the rest of this entry »

The Bible According To Weezy

01.19.11 Written by David D.

I’ve spent a lot of time in my life defending Lil Wayne as a legitimately smart person. Of course, he makes insane drug-induced statements that borderline tomfoolery, but his lyrical prowess, business sense and the fact he was so successful in school – he always had exceptional grades and went to finish school at the University of Houston – has always made me believe he’s actually a brilliant guy. Rolling Stone Revises “Greatest Songs” List, Adds More Suck

06.09.10 Written by David D.

Reading Rolling Stone lately has been an exercise in patience. Just last month, I saw a department in the magazine about SXSW that talked about the event without mention of a single Hip-Hop act, so needless to say, I’ve already soured on the publication. Like a conditioned robot though, I still picked up their newly revised “500 Greatest Songs of All-Time” issue yesterday. As much as I was anticipating some sort of shoddy coverage on the urban front, a few things still mange to blow my mind. Read the rest of this entry »
