While there were those wasting time & resources on St. Louis rapper J-Kwon’s purported “disappearance” (was anyone really that distressed in the first place?), they should have invested their energy into supporting these two Force members on the comeup as the two continue their push towards releasing their individual projects (“Money Never Sleeps when you Choose Your Own Adventure.” I see what you did there, Rocky). On “Bad Guy,” Rocky & Poe come together over a subterranean bassline, serving notice that when you can actually rhyme and do it with passion, there’s no need for publicity stunts.

Really, trying to put into words what I heard when I listened to this track by Rockwell Knuckles was tough. You see, I threw a challenge to him, asking that he do something that would catch the attention of those who may not have noticed his material before. We’ve raved about The Glow and I start out most mornings listening to “Government Name.” And seeing that specific song come to life on stage adds even more weight to the idea that Rocky and his music are on the right path. But I wanted something that tapped into what I knew were his strengths: his vocal inflections, delivery, wordplay and wisdom.

While driving over to The Five Spot, Contra™ commented on the full moon that was on the horizon. It was at that point that we suspected the night had the potential to be magical or disastrous. And it was actually a little bit of both. The Crew disassembled from Voltron form for the last night and actually covered two events. It was at point that I learned I was to be the red cat… literally as I was thrown into video camera duties. We haven’t been shy about declaring our support and love for all things Wafeek, but giving him the benefit of the doubt on an Auto-Tune project centered around a girlfriend break up…well let’s just say if Mr. West can’t get full support, no one can. Doubts can be put aside however. The confusing yet intoxicating Feekee & the Flux Capacitor is one of the few projects to use the sounds created by Auto-Tune to widen the range of emotions within the music.
