Thursday afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 14 – 4 for The Enforcement of Intellectual Rights Act which would allow the U.S. Department to prosecute copyright infringement cases without having to go through civil court. The RIAA released their statement regarding their current duel with Muxtape, simply saying they had been in communications with Muxtape for months but the site “was hosting copies of copyrighted sound recordings without authorization from the copyright owners.
