?uestlove came to Nashville to support our continued pursuit of epicness and massive it was. I originally considered running down 80 adjectives trying to paint how amazing the whole scene was and how relentless ?uest is on the mix…but simple words wouldn’t suffice in the least.

Video footage forthcoming but know and understand that Dee Goodz, Chance Warhol and DJ Wick-It held it down for the town. My camo cap goes off to Dee who stepped outside of comfort zone and usual crowd to make his mark. I never gauge how I feel about an artist’s performance solely on crowd reaction, knowing that sometimes an audience may hold back on giving props. Early call and responses fell short but young Goodz comes equipped with undeniable music and maximum charisma. And by his final track “Bananas,” the crowd rocked with him, filling in the calls for their participation.

To our 615′ers, remember that ?uestlove will be holding fort @ Mai tomorrow night. Also added to tomorrow night’s soiree are performances from Dee Goodz and Chance Warhol. And just like that we turn the calender page another month is in the books.  Seeing how I was outta pocket for most of the week due to work, I actually had to do this one just to catch myself back up with what’s been going on.  So whether you were here everyday or need a refreshers course, take a look back with us.

– Between the Celtics Vs. Lakers & The Grammys, January went out on a high note.

– Dwight’s baby momma got low… for peanuts & her son’s future shame.

– Freddie Foxx rocked some poor schlub’s snot box & Freddie Gibbs invaded NYC.

– It may be debatable that Wayne’s the top “pitch” man, but D. Rose turned in the top dunk of the week.

– ?uesto showed off NBC’s Black History Menu.  It looked Ooooooootay © Buckwheat

– David spoke on Vampires & Heartbreak.

Wow.

If you thought Late Night With Jimmy Fallon itself was bad, how about this unsettling lunch menu NBC offer(ed) ‘in honor of’ of Black History Month? Questlove obviously didn’t think too highly of it, as he TwitPic’ed the snapshot on @questlove, while pointing a big, black finger at NBC’s Public Relations department, who immediately issued a retraction.

I bet Popeyes is pissed they lost a whole month of catering.

First, if you’re not up on Parks & Recreation, you are seriously missing out. The show is proof that the creators of television still might just have a shred of creativity left in them. The above video – a mock-umentary of the casting call for the role of Leslie Knope – is pure hilarity as we see the leader of one of the most notable Hip-Hop “ensembles” to ever grace the stage takes on the role of a middle-aged white woman. RZA’s performance is nothing short of Oscar-worthy and any video with my future wifey Rashida Jones in it is worth watching if nothing else.

Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is still on the air for two reasons.

1: To prove that God has a sense of humor.  There are roughly 6,755,987,238 people more qualified to helm that show.

2. God’s also a fan of The Roots and he felt it was time for them to become stationary and for the people to come to them.  They’ve paid their dues tenfold and if the show must go on for them to do that, so be it.

In his hair, I bet ?uestlove has b-sides and outtakes from every artist imaginable. I know he does. I remember reading a detailed interview with either him or some other artist, telling how they spent days and weeks jamming, studying and vibing long before anything was ever recorded for album purposes. In fact, I think it was a D’Angelo interview and Brother Love’s presence in the interview became so glaring that it marked my mind, forever etching a vision of him as a musician in the original mold.
