Since their victory over the Patriots in last season’s divisional round, the New York Jets’ Bart Scott assumed the title as the NFL’s most entertaining linebacker with his comical and intimidating slogan “Can’t wait!” James Harrison, football’s public enemy #1, may not have had a defining quote in his interview with Men’s Journal. The Super Bowl is more than just the last and most important game of the NFL season. It is an event that brings people together regardless if those watching are diehard fans or happen to confuse Aaron Rodgers for that guy who is nominated for best actor in a drama at the Oscars. A nice sized TV, wings, pizza and alcohol is all that is really needed for a successful Super Sunday get together. Thanks to Papa John’s, however, you may not even have to fork out the money on pizza. Read the rest of this entry »

Your NFL Recap: Week 7

10.25.10 Written by Patrick M.

Being a NFL defender is a tough gig with a much greater share of shame than glory. Week 7 was the week the defenses turned the table as this week featured defensive touchdowns. Ground zero for the cornerback invasion was Solider’s Field, where D’Angelo Hall  almost single-handedly ended Jay Cutler, Mike Martz and Lovie Smith’s careers. Hall intercepted a harassed Cutler 4 times in the second half, returning one for a game-winning 92 yard touchdown. Read the rest of this entry »

The Clock Finally Struck Midnight For Big Ben

04.21.10 Written by MZ

When news surfaced that Ben Roethlisberger’s lapse in judgment had became a recurring theme, NFL fans have been waiting to see how Roger Goodell would handle it, especially after Big Ben was able to avoid criminal charges for the second time.  Ever since the new Commish took over, he’s had no problem doling out suspensions in an effort to keep the leagues image intact.  So much that he usually didn’t wait for matters to be settled in the court of law before stepping in to add his two cents.  Nope, good ‘ol Rog looks to Jay’s Vol. 3 for his brand of justice — “Guilty Until Proven Innocent.”  He’d rather lessen or rescind the punishment than look like he was putting the leagues profit margin over morality. Ben’s Illegal Procedure

03.06.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Look, there’s always been a saying that people won’t say the same thing about you twice and it not be some validity behind it. In the case of Pittsburgh Steelers signal caller, Ben Roethlisberger, it’s him and his propensity for lady friends to say some not so nice things about the two time Super Bowl champ. Here’s the gist of what happened:

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is being investigated in an allegation of sexual assault at a Georgia nightclub, the police said Friday. Officers said the suspected assault occurred early Friday at a nightclub in Milledgeville, Ga., about 85 miles southeast of Atlanta. Roethlisberger owns a home nearby. Roethlisberger and his friends were seen visiting local restaurants and bars Thursday night.

“He’s been identified as being at the scene and there are allegations naming him as the perpetrator,” said Deputy Chief Richard Malone, who added that Roethlisberger and the suspected victim had been interviewed and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

So now Big Ben has two cases to deal with. He’s still enduring a civil lawsuit stemming from 2008′s allegation from a woman who claims the QB raped her at a Lake Tahoe Hotel. I’m not commenting on either case because for one, I don’t know all the facts. I do know Kobe’s situation was handled totally different. I’m just saying. And two, both will probably get settled out of court anyway. I’m no lawyer, so my legal advice won’t hold much weight. But damn, someone tell Ben to sit his ass down. This makes it three offseasons where he’s encountered trouble. First was the motorcycle crash which thankfully spared him his life. Then the aforementioned rape accusation. Now this.

Who knows, maybe these women are simply looking to cash in on an easy payday. It’s not that far-fetched. Then again, maybe Ben can’t hold his alcohol and mistakenly takes “no” for “yes.” Or perhaps it’s a combination of both.
