Phoenix Pulls The Plug

06.22.10 Written by K1NG

When Gotty™ hit me a few months ago about being extremely impressed after hitting a Phoenix show out in Tennessee, I was doubly jealous due to the fact that I skipped their gig in Santa Cruz the week before for a measly six hours of work. The French band seriously hit their stride with their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix Read the rest of this entry »

Video: Phoenix Performing “1901” Live @ Vandy’s Rites Of Spring

05.23.10 Written by Gotty™

A bit of leftover footage from Vandy’s Rites Of Spring that I never got around to posting. Actually, I suck @ editing video so I have to wait around to get assists in that department (if you’re skilled, holler @ my inbox). There’s several clips in the archives but rock stars do not stand still while on stage, the sounds are twice as large and that’s not to mention the disco lighting Phoenix employed throughout their set. As a result, that footage is shakey dog status, complete with blarrrring bass and flashing white people every other second. Still, this clip of my favorite Frenchmen performing “1901″ was salvageable and worth its weight. I shot this from a good 50 yards away, after I left photographer’s row, and it came out much better because the crowd’s energy is more apparent. That means today’s musical forecast calls for “Lisztomania” to be running through my head endlessly. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then maybe “1901” or one of K1NG’s original suggestions will bring you into why their 2009 release (which make up the majority of songs on the recording) landed on many a critics top choice list. PS22 Kids Chorus Covers Phoenix’s “Lisztomania”

03.09.10 Written by Gotty™

When I grow up, I seriously want to be one of these kids.

You remember these little songbirds from their “Empire State Of Mind” rendition. This time they’re back singing another tune that’s apparently popular but I’ve never heard previous to now. But with the help of PS22 x Hype Machine, I’m now in the know and have another chune for my “other music” playlist.

Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

09.22.09 Written by K1NG

The music business is in such a confusing state for fans of multiple genres. The amount of music being thrown out is increasing as the amount of sites covering it continues to grow as well. Hip-Hop is pretty easy to keep up with when sites like us and Nahright are holding things down, but for other genres the boundaries aren’t so clear. Read the rest of this entry »
