What would you do if you had one day left? Me, personally, I’d round up my loved ones and belt out my favorite tunes, wherever they let me play ‘em the loudest. It might be a tad awkward at times, with my mom hearing songs like “Ain’t No Fun” and of course, me dying and all, but I’d make sure it was a killer party.

If you’re curious what J The S might do, check out this Court-Dunn-directed video for “One Day Left,” from his recent release The Sky Is Falling. Beside the likes of Jon Hope and singer Franco Anthony, this former Boston school-teacher and his cohorts spell out the hypothetical details of how, why and what their last moments might consist of. While the visual is NSFW and somewhat overdone in my opinion, the shock value definitely gives the song a darker approach.

Also, if you enjoy more of a story and J’s music in general, check out Court Dunn’s other alley-oop on the video for “Bliss.” The ending is a blast.

The theme of ‘dreams’ or ‘dreaming’ in rap right now is about as played out as my Beta copy of Ghostbusters back in 1988. It’s the poor-man’s “swag.” And, while I happen to believe in Fashawn as an artist, this video for his song “Big Dreams” looks like it was filmed around that time, as well. It baffles me how closed-knit the music industry can be for us here in the States. How does Avicii’s music video for the remix to his alter-ego’s single “Bromance,” have seven million YouTube plays and Top 20 status in multiple countries, yet I didn’t even know about either incarnation of this Swedish hitmaker – as an artist, in general – until last week? Aside from his music being crack, this video – if you can even call it that – is so far above the norm it would make Dire Straits proud.

Essentially a short film fit lengthwise for the Swede’s specific single, this perfectly laid-out visual finds a highly-sedated individual awaking in the middle of a field, just as he realizes he’s running late for an extremely important event. All the while, the back-story of the night before weaves in and out, providing insight into this gent’s headache and leading up to a punchline-ending that will leave you throwing your arms up in surprise at the completely off-guard twist.

Aside from actually finding this gem in the first place, the best part is that the video is so good it stands alone, whether you like the song or not.
