Every time B.o.B drops a new project I’m faced with a dilemma. Between whatever the singles are & random songs other crew member’s decide to post, I ask myself “do I really need to highlight another one of his songs?” So I wait for an opportunity to present itself that naturally lends to sharing the song. Since I won’t be recounting the exploits of my latest caper anytime soon it appeared that “Cold As Ice” would have to stay, for the lack of a better word, on ice. That was until Motion Family was kind enough to let loose this performance video from the Whynatte Christmas Eve show at Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta.

What makes “Cold As Ice” stand out is B.o.B’s ability to tell a story. His Pop sensibilities make for a lively chorus, breathing life into a very familiar sample, but the picture he paints in his verses is clear enough to appease the many facets of his fan base. Not wordy enough to turn away the Top-40 crowd, while still managing to tell a fully fleshed out story.

Signing a mixtape for everyone in attendance was a nice touch & deserves some recognition as well.

Just watching these clips remind of Mase’s classic “24 Hours To Live.” Even with full time jobs, school and other duties, it’s sometime hard to fathom how many tasks can truly be accomplished in a set amount of time.
