Video: Freeway & Jake One’s The Stimulus Package Album Package-ing

01.26.10 Written by TC

Prime example on why I opt to support via physical copies of albums opposed to digital media stores. The tireless efforts of the design team, photographers, etc. get largely ignored when you’re just hoarding those MP3s. And who wouldn’t want to have this Hip-Hop architecture, derived from the genius of Brent Rollins, Freeway & Jake One in their collection? Read the rest of this entry »

Gucci Mane – “Heavy”

11.25.09 Written by Gotty™

While the state has custody of Radric Davis, these interview clips with Info will serve to entertain in his absence. Oh yeah, he’s got an album coming out as well, including the Shawty Redd-produced “Heavy.” Read the rest of this entry »

Gucci Mane – “My Own Worst Enemy” Video

11.14.09 Written by TC

Good thing Gucci chopped it up with Miss Info before he had that classic case of rapper revocation. Promo for The State Vs. Radric Davis will be next to nil come Christmas Day. Or maybe it was all part of a grand marketing ploy. Is Gucci Mane a prolific genius? Read the rest of this entry »

Gucci Mane – “My Own Worst Enemy”

11.12.09 Written by TC

Although he’s heaped mounds of material onto his scoreboard in such a short period, “My Own Worst Enemy” may be the first actual glimpse of the inner workings of the cerebral cortex, which resides in Radric Davis. Over a subtle and bouncy Drumma Boy hood symphony, Gucci seemingly takes the high road as he skates over his thoughts of Young Jeezy dissing and his responsibilty to keep things peaceful if by all means possible. Video: “2 Fast, 2 Furious”

08.12.09 Written by TC

The Rosenthals have been on grind mode for the past 730 days and they’ve put together a *star studded video to pat themselves on the back for their efforts. I find it odd nobody mentioned my personal favorite “Fall Out Day,” but they’ve covered enough bases to score runs with everybody at least once.

And in case you didn’t log on to Twitter yesterday (only way you could have missed it,) Ace Hood was completely annihilated. And guess who started it all? Read the rest of this entry »

DJ Drama & Cookin’ Soul – The Notorious B.I.G. Tribute Mixtape

03.09.09 Written by TC

Thanks in part to the Notorious movie, Hip-Hop has been fortunate to undergo a Biggie resurrection of sorts on the World Wide Web. The forgotten videos, unreleased music, the B.I.G. comadarie — all have been an invigorating compliment to a legend who basically batted 1.000 in his short but storied career. On this twelfth anniversary of his tragic assassination, some of rap’s active players such as Jean Grae, Emilio Rojas, Uncle Murda and Styles P. have linked up with DJ Drama and red-hot production trio Cookin Soul to revisit a handful of those Chris Wallace classics.

It’s unbelievable. After all this time, Frank White is “Still Notorious…” Read the rest of this entry »

“You Light Up My Life…” – Illmind’s Blaps, Rhymes & Life V2 Release Party

02.05.09 Written by TSSCrew

Words by Khalid StricklandPics by Sundiata Acree

I don’t know much about fantasy sports, but the goddess of the blogsphere, Hot-97’s Miss Info, has long been an All-Star on my Fantasy Wife team. When I heard she’d be hosting a mixtape release party for New Jersey-based producer Illmind, I quickly enlisted. Illmind makes some hard-ass beats and his new mixtape, Blaps, Rhymes and Life Vol.2 is full of heavyweights; 50 Cent, Kool G. Rap, Prodigy, LL Cool J, Skyzoo, Jean Grae, Heltah Skeltah and Brooklyn Academy are just some of the artists featured. That fact alone piqued my interest, but the lovely Info sweetened the deal.

The event was held at a cool spot called Grand Banks in Jersey City. I don’t want to sound like a hateful anti-Jersite but I’ve never been a big fan of the state, even though NYC is right next door. Jersey City ninjas can get wild (y’all saw how Ransom and Buddens were acting up), so I summoned two trusted goons for this trip. Thankfully, no one caught or delivered a buck-fifty Read the rest of this entry »

“Holla Holla Holla If You Want To…”

08.12.08 Written by TSSCrew

Written by Chris “Preach” Smith

MCs have displayed their singing chops for years. Whether it’s 50 Cent singing hooks in a voice that sounds like he knocked back five shots of Patron in a row or Grand Puba dropping melodies all over his tracks dating back to a duet with Mary J. Blige (if you can call it that,) MCs have always relied on a touch of R&B. So imagine my surprise when Ghostface Killah told Miss Info that his next project will be an R&B album.
