Reading Rolling Stone lately has been an exercise in patience. The things you can do while smoking blunts aren’t nearly as cool as what Spice 1, aka Dr. Bomb From Da Bay, can do. Amidst a freshly lit mirage of medicinal mary jane vapors, the vernacular vet from the Yay Area sprinkles a little street onto Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal,” melodically sampling the song with an effortless acapella to a beat that’s probably been indented in his head permanently for the past twenty years.

And it’s sick.

I’ma put it out there. Spice 1′s still got it. Flat out obvious. He might just need to lay off that tweed and spend more time in the studio. His once-upon-a-time-anticipated comeback album Home Street Home should’ve touched down after he’d fully recovered a year or so ago. Instead, nothing. Truthfully, homeboy hasn’t dropped anything relevant since the beginning of this blog’s existence.

Ah well, while us suckers for rapid-fire murder rap are stuck waiting, enjoy this refreshing taste of could be.
