The digital age has definitely birthed an interesting predicament. With more artists releasing multiple full-lengths in the course of a year, the overwhelming flood of MP3s can make it a chore to navigate through the music scene. Balance from The Bay celebrates his Independence Day as of 2006 which essentially makes him a veteran by today’s standards. Realizing the importance of sanctifying his discography, he’s linked up with DJ Faze for B4: Greatest Materials, an extensive project which doubles as a reminder of his stocky past as well as clear reference point for future fans. Although the West keeps it tighter than any other region when it comes to unity and collaborations, I’ma go ahead and lay down a rival division line and proclaim: this joint > “I Wanna Rock” (Interstate Trafficking Remix). Read the rest of this entry »
Epic Beard Man reigns supreme. “It’s your world, kid. The rest of us just payin’ rent.” © Stuart Scott. At least for this week, I bet Tiger wishes your shenanigans made the jump from the ‘net to the airwaves. That way he might have caught a little slack for his speech the other day. My only thought watching ‘ol boy was didn’t he go to Stanford? He was talking like he was going to ESL instead of sex addict classes. Hey, you, unknown rapper. I know what you’re thinking. For the past three years, you’ve been going overdrive, working on your magnum opus. A whopping 10-disc masterpiece of all new material that would not only eclipse every other MC in existence with it’s sheer size and volume, but make sure those dues were finally paid in full and that the much-deserved shine you’d been grinding so hard for since ’05 was going to 360° your life into a stratosphere typically set aside for rap royalty. Right?
Well, guess what? Messy Marv is dropping a twelve disc album and there’s nothing you can do about it.
That’s correct, according to a new interview with Baycentrik, Filmore’s grimiest goon is upping the ante with his upcoming online-only album, Project Superstar, which should trump all previous releases put out by, well, anyone.
Baycentrik: You’ve teased you were putting out a 12 disc album. Were you serious when you said that?
Mess: Right. 12 disc album, it will be available in April 2010. 12 discs, Project Superstar. You have to get it online, it’s one of them albums that I’m doing just strictly for all the online heads, the internet heads. I’m trying to build my online presence so I’m giving them a special package for supporting me for so long. A 12 disc album for a little bit of nothing, you know? You have to log onto ScalenLLC.com to get it.
I get that dude’s on his grind and has enough extra material stashed around the studio to release such a colossal monstrosity. But, with listeners’ attention spans going lower than low, is anyone really going to make it through a dozen discs? Doubtful. If it were me, I’d release one disc a month, insuring fans consistently got new music and that the last eleven discs didn’t get overlooked. Which they will. Am I wrong?
Found in the inbox from that dude DJB, who keeps continually lacin’ all of us with these theme & artist-centered collections of Loosies. This time around, Messy Marv. Read the rest of this entry »
