Jim Jones just might be headed down the wrong career track. If the sales of Pray IV Reign were any indication (and the actual music itself), folks aren’t too inclined hearing Jim spit without the likes of Juelz and Cam (or Max, for that matter) propping him up by providing him up surrounding him with their ghostwritten prose guest verses. However, one area where Jim has shown considerable aptitude (besides ad-libbin’, of course) is video direction. Who knows his actual involvement behind the camera, but the following clips bearing his name (or his pseudonym CAPO) are just so beautifully hood. Read the rest of this entry »
When it comes to an aspiring MC’s career, a solid rap name is just important their actual talent. Coming up with that proper moniker, however, isn’t always so easy. In a world were reinforcement rules, the descriptive variability can be taken so many ways. Dumbed down or desperately deep. Dickies or leotard Levis. Big or Lil.’ Kid or Man. Hot or cold. Government or given. There are so many choices, but technically, it doesn’t really even matter. It’s not about what it says or means, as much it’s about how well it can be pushed to the people. See: Mike Jones. Read the rest of this entry »
Equipped with a Canada Dry, a bag of chips and a fitted cap to match, a then-free Max B holds a “concert” of sorts after leaving a court hearing only days before his conviction. With his sentencing coming next week, it might be safe to say this is the last footage we’ll see of Hip-Hop’s most notorious crooner for quite sometime. It’s a damn shame too. I liked homie’s music for the most part. Now if he actually did the crime, then ol’ Charly Wingate (that’s Max) is up the creek without a paddle.
However, what I’m really pissed about is the fact he and French Montana won’t be making any more hilarious YouTube clips. In my eyes, those two were the real life (and slightly more urban) Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. You know, had Tom and Huck smoked weed and sipped Grand Cru for a living. Whether it was stalking Jimmy outside the studio, clowning Hell Rell (“That n*gga Hell Rell mother look like Freeway.” — Max) or just random music videos, they were entertaining if they weren’t anything else. Just another sad reality of how all good things in life eventually run their course.
FYI, the song he was “performing” was the “Ready To Ride” remix off his latest mixtape, Public Domain 6: Walking The Plank.

P.S. I’d be remiss if I didn’t post arguably my favorite Max B clip. Here, “the wavy one” speaks his “run-in” with Roxy Reynolds. Yeah, THAT Roxy Reynolds.
“Support Max B as a portion of the t-shirt proceeds will go to Max B’s commissary. BUY NOW!”
I wish I motherfuckin’ would.
Whoever the individual was the other day catchin’ feelings because we haven’t posted a gang of Max material or said much about him…well, I don’t care about Max. I’m not against him either. I liked his early contributions, specifically on On My Way To Church and early Byrd Gang material. After that, I never really got caught Hangin’ Ten with the cat.
And let’s be realistic.
Max wasn’t living as “wavvvy” as he portrayed. In fact, if he was wise instead of wavy, he would’ve been aware enough to realize that rap wasn’t Read the rest of this entry »

It’s automatic that when you hear the name Kurious Jorge you think “Walk Like A Duck,” his ’93 one-hitter quitter. Alas he’s back on the scene with a new album set to drop.
