Believe it or not, my extensive collection of CDs doesn’t contain a single disc by either of these four accomplished artists. Yet, before hitting play on David Banner & 9th Wonder’s new Death Of A Popstar single with Ludacris and Marsha Ambrosius, I pretty much figured we were all in store for a treat. Right as usual, “Be With You” is comfort food for the seasoned soul and the complete opposite of the song’s atrocious cover art.

A whole album of songs this good could get copped.

Marsha Ambrosius has one of my most anticipated solo albums of 2010. Aside from Floetry, she’s been dismantling features for years and now it’s only right she starts reaping in some of the fruits of her labor with her own effort. MZ dropped off a new cut from the songstress on V-Day and this one appears to be cut from the same cloth.

“Let Me Go” is quintessential Marsha. It’s soulful, it’s sexy, it’s classy and it’s addictive. The slow vibe allows you to to get lost in the record and should have you hitting the repeat button more than once. If I had to compare Marsha to anyone, I’d say she is the female equivalent to Maxwell. Their music is provocative enough to set the mood, but “grown” enough to cater to an older demographic.

Regardless, Late Nights & Early Mornings can’t hit shelves quick enough.

Looking out my window at the moment I see snowflakes the size of cotton bolls descending from the sky.  It’s at this time, when we get our first real storm, that spring seems so far away.  Which is why this new track from Marsha is a godsend.  Certain songs evoke certain triggers and feelings and I just feel spring as soon as the needle (thanks to DJ Aktive) drops on this self-produced track.

Between the airy synths, tribal drums and staccato organ chops, Marsha settles down in the pocket and gets to work. With Late Nights & Early Mornings set to release sometime this year, it looks like 2010 is the year Marsha gets her groove back.

Work smarter, not harder.

Posting compiled Loosies is always time consuming to an extent. It’s always good to feel like we’re getting tracks out to you & it always gives a “Uhh? Who us?” feeling when an unheard of artist sends an email thanking us for including their mp3 in a Loosies set. But @ the same time, I started to notice that where an estimated hour or two per day would be spent rounding up Loosies, they’d only be downloaded by a handful of the several thousand travelers who cross our e-doorstep daily. Another release from the Kidz upcoming freebie, Professional Leisure Tour. “All Night” continues on the same uptempo, up close pace established on “Grizzly Man” and features Marsha’s contributions (again so quickly?) in the vocal department.
