Last Wednesday, the Kim & the Kardashians (yes, Beefy/no, Bruce) are invited to throw out the first pitch against the Nationals. Then on Saturday, the young Simmons ladies make an appearance? Color my odd but there’s something strangely alluring about a woman in a baseball jersey. If you’re not a fan of baseball, this may not be for you.
This is for the real fans. Yeah, I’m talking to you. You completely equate Spring with the crack of the bat, parking lot pre-gaming at 10 a.m. and of course justified heckling even South Park would blush to. Yes, we are the idiots who drop a bill to sit in rain for three consecutive hours. Like Phillies fans who waited two decades, regaining their full pride with their team’s championship or Tampa Bay who were content with just even being there and surpassing both super powers of the Yanks and Sox as division leaders. The NFL is in full swing, and as a result, I do all my homework on Saturdays so I can watch nine hours of football on Sundays. The NBA is on its way back, and the start of preseason games brings about the anticipation for opening tip-off night, which is just a few weeks away. While the pros make their money, the student-athletes do their thing on the field, making Thursday nights and Saturdays all the more enjoyable.
You may or may not have noticed, I made no mention of the MLB playoffs in my rundown. Read the rest of this entry »
