Kellee Maize may spit like a don diva, but for her next act of verbal intercourse, she’s getting her Don Draper on. Mad Men, allow me introduce Mad Woman, a.k.a. Kellee Maize Female Rapper as she leaves a modified version of your theme song outlined in chalk. Kellee Maize – “Revival Of The Fifth Sun (2012)” Video

10.04.10 Written by TC

There’s a war going on outside no man – or woman – is safe from. But Kellee Maize has the right get ready and a will made of steel. In fact it’s so strong, she’s tackled a Mobb Deep classic to gauge the attention of the rest of the sleepers and get them on board towards her spirtual path of liquid rhyming. Drench your attention and soak up the game that she kicks because she’s focused, mannnnnn. Read the rest of this entry »

Kellee Maize – “Third Eye” Video

09.16.10 Written by Beware

The most successful people are the ones who take criticism to task and not to heart.

Apparently, Kellee Maize‘The #1 Female Rapper on Amazon’ – took our hard-nosed review of her debut video in stride, as the follow-up proves worthy of the Pittsburgh native’s high musical quality score. Vocally, “Third Eye” describes the mindset of an inspired woman, who’s always looking to lend a lyrical hand to those in need. Complimenting Kel’s carefree attitude, the song’s high-definition visual highlights her inner and outer appeal, advantageously to the buzzing young artist’s budget and career alike.

As an added treat, check out Miss Maize’s insightful, new single, “Revival Of The 5th Son,” where she shouts of both the Zeitgiest dude and Mobb Deep. Sexy.

Kellee Maize – “Yesterday” Video

05.13.10 Written by Beware

On account of increased competition and our collective attention span being about two centimeters tall, the new generation of successful rappers have been obligated to become all-inclusive genre jumpers. So, while cover-all artists like Drake and Bobby Ray continue to climb the charts, it’s only fitting that starving starlet Kellee Maize would chose a less aggressive and more remedial archetype for her first official video, “Yesterday.”

Ambitiously adding the title of “singer” around her aleady heavy resume of rapid fire raps, confident Hip-Hop and overall resilience, this Steel City native speaks on personal and public growth in this soul searching new single from her upcoming album, Age Of Feminine.

But, that’s the music. The video, on the other hand, is unfortunately God-awful.

First of all, this shoddy sequence of unorganized scenes is everywhere and nowhere at once. Are we doing unpracticed, choreographed dances, or mourning at the cemetery? Was shorty supposed to be Lil’ Kellee, or what? Was that SNES? Secondly, the overall quality was reminiscent of an elementary school instructional video, circa 1993. Oh, and you know that graffiti background you thought would jazz up the place, Mr. Videographer? Well, it looked like the background to the Saved By The Bell intro. Straight up.

So, to management at Maize enterprises, put down the Beta tapes and go cop Final Cut Pro. Call The Motion Family. Do something. Kellee’s music has so much potential, but in our visual-based 1080 mega-pixel society, her career will never take off with visuals that belong on amateur hour.

Kellee Maize – “Pulse”

04.23.10 Written by K1NG

Eastern influence will always find its way into a hippie’s music; it’s inevitable. Not sure if Kellee Maize would necessarily refer to herself as such, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities. She’s not ignorant to people’s aversion to her music because of who she is or what she speaks on. She makes this clear with the sitar-filled, reggae-influenced “Pulse.” She also makes it clear that it doesn’t bother her. The chorus on “Pulse” is seductively melodic with conversational verses resting in between urging the listener to join her on a spiritual journey towards love.

She might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I think she’d rather serve her blend organically to a smaller crowd than spread poison to the masses.

Don’t Start None With Kellee Maize

04.09.10 Written by K1NG

Hip-Hop has come along way from Kool Herc cutting up breaks for an exclusive group of party-goers at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. in The Bronx. It’s no longer taboo for Jeanette the yoga instructor to be rocking out to “Soul Survivor” on her early morning jog; or for Gracie the art teacher at your daughter’s elementary school to be zoning out in the teachers’ lounge to “Shook Ones Pt. 2.”

Fighting Hip-Hop’s progression or the scope of talent pushing it forward is an exercise in futility. Instead of whining about who shouldn’t be participating in this game and pointing out everything wrong with an artist and his or her image, it would be more conducive to welcome those who are genuine in their attempts.
