While there’s nothing particularly strange about the foursome known as Hollyweerd, they’ve had the toughest time catching on. In part, their sound and style is familiar yet hard to place. While there’s definite inflections of the A found throughout, they still manage to always find ways to put a particular spin on songs, whether it be live instrumentation, changing cadences and the like. If that sounds negative, it’s not because they always manage to add measurable doses of soul and spirit that are missing in today’s musical landscape. “Supa Eazy” is the leading leak off their upcoming Edible Phat 2.0 mixtape and it’s more of the same, sounding as country as ever but with refreshing nuances that keep it them ahead of the pack and should be make them standouts amongst the mundane. One fourth of Hollyweerd enlists one of the Bible Belt’s finest, Yelawolf, for this collaborative concoction knocking the psycho tendencies many females seem to pick up while pawing after these potential cash-cow celebrities and MCs. The Love Pusha from Stank, GA comes quite correct on the whimisical backdrop, which leaves room a whiteboy named after some lumber to keep up his habit of showing out on others’ tracks.

Besides the “WTF is SMKA” & “In Your Own Words” videos, they also shot a handful of freestyle clips. The one above features the Señor Kaos, Jay West & Playboy Tre, backed by Parker Smith on guitar. While driving over to The Five Spot, Contra™ commented on the full moon that was on the horizon. It was at that point that we suspected the night had the potential to be magical or disastrous. And it was actually a little bit of both. The Crew disassembled from Voltron form for the last night and actually covered two events. It was at point that I learned I was to be the red cat… literally as I was thrown into video camera duties.
