“It’s Jones…”
Been a minute since you’ve heard those words, but when you do, you know who it is. And you already kou know if it’s Grind Time, we’re gonna give it some shine. New Jones, playing the role of wizened vet reminding corner kids & cats slumped in the backseat of the Caprices that the streets ain’t always sweet.

Pill & D upped this “let me show my neighborhood” footage of Pink City, which obviously isn’t rosy & pink but nonetheless as animated & enjoyable as Any Hood, USA. This is a little teaser before the “Trap Going Ham” video drops, the filming of which Read the rest of this entry »
Grind Time working overtime this week. Young Pink City Pill hijacks Drake’s beat to tell the tale of real down ass chick, then does a little lyrical exercise Read the rest of this entry »
EDIT — Administrative decision to bring this back to the top. Because the more I listen, the more I like it. Therefore, I petition for more to listen along with me.
“Grind Time Rap Gang, Bang! Bang! Bang!”
New music from the artist formerly known as Gangsta out the Grind Time camp. On the aptly titled “Music,” Pill traces his musical Read the rest of this entry »
He said on record that the last great debate he had was with Michael Eric Dyson. While this wasn’t a debate, Killer Mike takes a few minutes to speak with Dr. Stanley Pritchett, the president Read the rest of this entry »
It’s quite obvious I’m pullin for Pill for his Grind Time affiliation. But when you listen to his music, he jacked a few beats & put together a mixtape that almost brings you back to the other side of Atlanta, before it was a major player on the rap scene. A place with a lot less jewelry & shine. Less partying, more struggling to come up. Still in the trenches with grittier content but with a swift delivery that provides the light, making it worth a listen. Atlanta’s own Bodie Broadus of the mic. Read the rest of this entry »

In alignment with Gotty™’s Unofficial Grind Time Official week, here is a track I feel should not be left out.
Normally, I prefer the more brash, revolutionary Killer tracks.
Nothing makes me happier than pulling up to the office next to my coworkers, blasting “Pressure” or “That’s Life” on full blast. The general discomfort as they try to walk away slow enough to listen to what Mike says next, but quick enough to act like they want no parts in it, generally make for a good start to any day.
But this track here is what I bump in my earphones as I sit at my desk, seeking inspiration and trying to find that extra iota of energy to persevere when the clock reads 2pm and I still haven’t had lunch. Knowing that Read the rest of this entry »
I like how all this sort of falls into place. While discussing Skulls & Roses, Grind Time’s Gangsta Pill’s name popped up in the comments along with Read the rest of this entry »
If there was ever an actual release of this as a physical album, I’m not aware of it (put me on!). When it originally released, it was a free Read the rest of this entry »
I warned you that I could miss a day in Unofficial GTO week. Getting things back on track, today’s choice will be “Keeps Getting Better” & “Sags-N-Flags” from S.L.’s C.O.L.O.R.S., which was probably only appreciated by a few such as myself. Read the rest of this entry »
