The question was raised in a recent discussion if a Grammy still mattered. Now granted, the fast-paced Internet has tossed a lot of hoopla and huff in our peripheral scope. So much to the point where every award and accolade begin to get clumped together into one big lump of routine kiss-ass. Mick Boogie & Terry Urban Presents – 2009: The Grammy Remix Project

As the 51st Grammy Awards approach, Mick Boogie and Terry Urban have taken the liberty of building anticipation (and much needed reminders) for the the 2009 Nominees. But instead of just throwing the hottest songs of last year on a disc and calling it a day, The Press Play Show decided to put their own twist on the occasion. As Mick puts it –

Ever wonder how Kanye would sound rapping on Kenna’s song?  What if The Jonas Brothers sang over some hiphop breakbeats?  What if Thom Yorke sang on Lupe’s “Superstar?”  What if Sara Bareilles bought a sampler and not a piano?  The list goes on… but the answers can be found here.

The 2009 Grammy Award Nominees For “Best Rap Album”

By now the majority of us can agree the Grammy Awards validity isn’t worth its weight in mustard packets — especially when it comes to their representation of the rap Hip-Hop category. I can remember Mystikal’s hit-less Tarantula getting a nominee in the midst of Eminem automatically getting a win whenever the Awards coincided with an album released.

But with the unveiling of the nominees for 2009′s Best Rap Album, it seems like either the committee experienced some sort of Hip-Hop head revelation or Public Enemy actually bum rushed the show, seeing that the albums chosen were amongst the brightest in terms of visibility while simultaneously serving as some of the best as well.
