Back when I was an angry young teen, I hung around the graff heads from school. You know these dudes: paint-stained shoes, unnecessarily, torn up fitteds, reeked like cigarettes/weed/cheap beer…yup, this was my crew. We’d spend most Saturdays driving around the city with our only friend with a driver’s license, shoved up against subwoofers that only worked 1/3 of the time, making fun of emo kids at the local laser tag place and taking flicks of the previous nights work. It’s not the first time mainstream media gives a little dap to the graf heads but CNN really wants to make it known they don’t condone art in the streets. Not taking away anything from Krink founder Craig Costello, but the emphasis on the voiceover of “former graffitti artist” is laughable. Ironic as well is the press given to Krink knowing that a good portion of this product will end up on bathroom stalls, city street walls and train windows. Read the rest of this entry »
