Jackie Chain x Nick Catchdubs – After Hours Mixtape

02.08.12 Written by TC

Y’know the nighttime is the right time to get involved in all sorts of G’d up wackiness and adult activities. Whether it’s wolves or vampy bloodsuckers that rise up when the moon reveals its glow to the world, Jackie Chain will remain in his usual demeanor: cool, grinning and ready to beat the block up with his pimpish ways. Jackie Chain Feat. Gangsta Boo – “Don’t Violate” (Produced By DJ Burn One)

02.01.12 Written by Greg Whitt

Alabama’s other non-Black Hip-Hop artist du jour is back with an oldie but goodie. Originally placed on one of DJ Burn One’s, I don’t know, 1000 projects last year, “Don’t Violate” didn’t get the attention it deserved during its original release. Finding new life on his upcoming mixtape with Nick Catchdubs, After Hours, Jackie Chain’s Gangsta Boo-assisted track Read the rest of this entry »

By now, most of you have thoroughly entertained yourself with repeated listens from Yelawolf’s “Throw It Up,” featuring a hilarious Eminem cameo and a random, yet well-placed reemergence from Gangsta Boo. And while it may have caught most fans off guard to hear from the former Three 6 Mafia starlet leading the charge on the sole Slim Shady feature, it’s a feat she’s made part of her forte her entire tenure in the rap game. Yelawolf Feat. Eminem & Gangsta Boo – “Throw It Up” (Prod. By Will Power)

11.11.11 Written by Gotty™

Upon reading the listed artists, Yelawolf’s “Throw It Up” may seem like the oddest pairing on a rap record but it’s actually not. His Tennessee roots mean he undoubtedly listened to more than his fair share of “the old Triple 6 Mafia” when the group still featured Gangsta Boo and other originals. Still, the last time I heard anything about Boo she had robbed a Dollar General and/or had found Jesus. Read the rest of this entry »

Gangsta Boo Charged In Connection With Robbery

12.10.09 Written by Gotty™

gangsta-boo

Aspiring rappers, please make note. Have a solid backup plan and a backup plan to that backup plan for when that first backup plan fails, lest you end up like former Three 6 member Gangsta Boo.

Memphis rapper Gangsta Boo turned herself in to authorities on Tuesday (December 7) in connection with the robbery of an Olive Branch, Mississippi retail store. Gangsta Boo, born Lola Mitchell, was arrested and released on $100,000 bond after she was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Digging a little further, come to find out Boo was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery…of a Dollar General store. Read the rest of this entry »

Apologies To The Juiceman

07.14.09 Written by David D.

oj-da-juiceman

A couple of weeks ago, I had to eat crow.

Just after I made fun of OJ Da Juiceman and his Hooked On Phonics-sponsored tweets*, I popped in Bobby Ray’s mixtape and heard the little Gollum straight wreck his guest-verse on the track “I Am The Man.” Say what you want, but Juiceman hopped in his Cadillac (that I’m sure is the color of a Care Bear stool sample) and straight rode the beat. Way to make me look bad, oh purveyor of Vitamin C.

I tried to sweep that verse under the rug as a one-time fluke. You know, broken clocks, correctness and all that.

Then I heard his verse on “Walking On Ice” from Twista’s Category F5 and began to question the meaning of life. By George, he did it again. Juiceman got the coveted third verse spot on the track and delivered. He may not hit you with triple word score adjectives in his 16s, but Juice can use his voice as an instrument to amplify the beat. And really, that’s the bread and butter of he and Gucci’s sound. When you get over the fact that it’s OJ dropping these verses, it’s not hard to appreciate what he adds to each of these tracks.

*Ahem*

MIA MOTHERFUCKING X! That is all.

* Sidebar: My Mom called me the other day. She said “I’ve been reading your articles. I loved that article you wrote about OJ Simpson!”

SMH. Moms. Gotta love’em.
