Freeway and Jake One have chemistry. That was evident back in 2010, when they teamed up to put out The Stimulus Package. Freeway finally sounded hungry again as he raced over Jake One’s soulful slaps, and the duo came up with one of the better projects of the year. It earned four-cigs from TSS upon its release, topped our year end slept-on list and still gets burn around my way, which I suppose is the greatest testament of all in today’s age of disposable music. So a couple a weeks ago, I’m chilling with Freeway after his show and he comes over with this iPad, excited about the new music he’s created for his upcoming album (his second of ’10), Diamond In The Rough. When asked about the status of his working relationship with Jake One, he immediately turned it over to “Beautiful Music.” Concocted by the Seattle Supersonic, a light piano riff and subtle drum loops were all that was needed for Freeway to deliver that some his rugged yet vintage Hip-Hop.
