It was apparent at a recent New York City Flying Lotus show that Thundercat’s name doesn’t deceive–he looks like a lost character from the popular 1980s cartoon. His bulky ensemble and tricked-out axe played well with his brand of psychedelic funk that he conjures from the period that preceded the famed show. Whether his name is Mike Bigga or Killer Mike is irrelevant, as Michael Render is always a welcomed voice to grace the dwindling Hip-Hop playlist on my iPod. Seemingly on track to finally to receive major label support for his musical movement (IPATTG3, coming soon), the Atlanta native drops another banger entitled “Swimming.” With production by Flying Lotus, the track definitely falls in line with the rest of his catalog as quality product.
