There wasn’t much chance that I was checking this song when I saw it leak yesterday because, being honest, who even knew there was a part one to “Fresh I Stay”? Theeeennn, I found out darling Jovi was featured on the chorus (which most didn’t note @ first leak release) and I didn’t think twice. Here’s hoping a placement like a Flo-Rida track will help her garner the recognition she’s due from a larger audience. On the flipside, I’m praying there will be a version sans the guys when it appears on her Pyscho Therapy 1.5 mixtape. Read the rest of this entry »
Teddy Pain and The Poe Boy try to recreate that ol’ “Low” magic once again on “Zoosk Girl,” the first of expectantly many rousing dashes of disco zest from Flo Rida’s third LP. Read the rest of this entry »
As record sales keep slumping for bigger acts and concert money becomes more essential to funding artists’ lavish livelihoods, curiosity leads one to ponder how much our favorite acts pull in per show. Can reliable ticket-buyers cover a debut dud? Is a concert check worthy of the sleepless grind? Do bottles of Ace line the dressing room when Jay-Z comes into town? How about home-fried hookers when Uncle Luke makes the rounds? Read the rest of this entry »

This is a dilemna Ray Allen has come to gripes with and he’s fed up as he feels fans’ voting rights should be abolished. Read the rest of this entry »
There are five reasons I’m feeling Flo Rida’s new joint, “We Came Up.”
1. Despite being one of the most played artists of the past decade, Flo Rida still gets it in with the Poe Boys. I don’t know about nationwide notoriety, but with Flo spreading the wealth, this one should get spins in Florida up and through summer. Read the rest of this entry »
And they just keep coming. Is Flo Rida looking to do Deeper Than Rap numbers — in terms of videos?

A brief glance at the back cover of Joe Young’s The Great Ape, and you can’t help but be intrigued by the names on the tracklist. How could a relative nobody, manage to snag multiple guest appearances from big name talent, including the game’s two biggest stars: Lil’ Wayne and Kanye West?
One thing’s clear: it wasn’t Young’s musical talents that drew in the superstars. The album is a non-stop deluge of half thought out rhymes, lazy flows, and plodding beats. At worst the whole project sounds amateurish, one example being Joe’s staggeringly terrible last verse on “We Gon Be Straight.” Over a high hat and bass beat recycled off Da Last Don: The D Sides, Young strings together the clichés: “Back to reality, bills coming in/The rent ain’t paid/Money comin’ in late/But we remain great/We gon to be straight/In a minute/We in it to win it/And I will never lose/I paid my dues…” Read the rest of this entry »

Still standing after shaking off faulty racketeering charges, DJ Drama remains one of the biggest street A&R’s in the game. The Gangsta Grillz mixtape series still prevails as a deal breaker in solidifying an artist’s independent grind and Drama’s connections with T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint is one of the strongest in Hip-Hop. Out to pay the bills in a more practical fashion, Drama’s back with the 2nd commercial installment of Gangsta Grillz: The Album; a middling compilation that manages to get the least out of every one of its big name features. The title to Flo Rida’s new album R.O.O.T.S. (Route of Overcoming the Struggle,) conjures up visions of a lost Tribe Called Quest album. But have no fear Flo fans — R.O.O.T.S. is full of the saccharine club Hip-Pop we’ve come to expect from Miami’s favorite hunk rapper. There’s little room on the album for intellectual stimulation or exhibition of lyrical virtuosity, and most of the songs seem crafted for those with attention spans of 90 seconds or less. Let’s face it: the kid Flo Rida could wrap syllables around the sounds of crickets chirping. His music may be more Pop than a twelve-pack of Pepsi®, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t make you dance. Read the rest of this entry »
