Pusha’s bake sale continues as “Blow” gets a nice viral video, directed by the ill Mikes, to accompany the tune Gotty™ previously mentioned as my favorite off the mixtape. Read the rest of this entry »
Pusha T continues to give Fear Of God new life evidenced by the release of his new visual for the Nottz-supplied tune “Open Your Eyes.” In nothing but a room, his thoughts and the white girl which has been the backdrop of he and Malice’s music for years, the Re-Up Gang general meditates on gifts of his present and tribulations of the past dating all the way back to the days of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The cycle goes hype, leak, hype, final release and then we all move on and forget after a few days. Not for me. I stay fashionably late, lingering around to listen for a while before picking up whatever’s next. A week or two ago, I ran up on a hard copy of Fear Of God and keep it in the rotation, Read the rest of this entry »

Pusha Terrence continues to serve the product, making the move to put his recent release on store shelves in early June, retitling it as Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray and adding “a few surprises” according to his words. Directed by Pusha and Ryan Reichenfeld, the visuals for “My God” coincide with the announcement and herald the coming, complete with a kiddie drumline, shiny cars and the not often used images of evangelists sweeping parishioners off their feet. The Bible preaches that man should fear God in everything they do. Not to say that G.O.O.D. Music’s hottest ticket, Pusha T thinks he’s the creator of all things, but he definitely wants to instill that same type of omnipresence into his peers in this thing called rap. Sans the subliminal sacrilegious anecdotes, it’s a kind of advantage every artist should strive for in their approach and angles. Read the rest of this entry »
When Pharrell starts looping down-scale piano chords, more than likely the session isn’t for Nelly Furtado. Typically, P’s sinister keys are reserved for only the gulliest of gully, so it’s only fitting two of Hip-Hop’s most open books – Pusha T and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson – tempt both MCs and police precincts alike with this sinister sample of the G.O.O.D. Music member’s Fear Of God mixtape, which drops next Tuesday. Read the rest of this entry »
The evolution of Pusha T “the solo artist” has been an interesting subplot in Hip Hop to follow. His track record alongside his brother is certified as one of the better groups the genre ever produced. But nevertheless, the braided half the Clipse is essentially starting over from scratch. Now when it come to cooking crack, Pusha T is a gas stove, still standing over the pot until it bubbles and broils with white money. Adept in all aspects of dope (flow, audio, boy), Mr. Eghck makes Bun and Drake’s recent heater drug-related while still threatening to put the Fear Of God in all opposition. “Last month, Pusha T told us his highly anticipated 13-tack Fear of God mixtape was complete. The project—which will feature production from Kanye West, Nottz, Swizz Beatz and him rhyming over some throwback instrumentals—finally drops on March 21. Read the rest of this entry »
Fine, you know what? Here’s my admission. I sipped the kool-aid and officially joined the Pusha T Fear Of God bandwagon a few weeks ago. “My God” just so happened icing on the cake. It’s not that I haven’t been a fan of buddy’s music in the past, because I have (admittedly not as diehard as some of my other fellow Virginians). Read the rest of this entry »
Pusha’s “My God” is ripe with ex-hustler turned righteous rapper full of repent, a formula the Thornton bros have all but perfected. The approach can’t be contested when the music sounds so melodic and there’s conviction “in every bar and every cadence,” mixed with a hints of glowing materialism. Read the rest of this entry »
