Event Recap: NY Giants Super Bowl XLVI Victory Celebration

02.08.12 Written by S.Cadet

Funny how a simple game of football can transform downtown Manhattan and the Meadowlands into a ruckus party zone. Good times were the M.O. yesterday thanks to the NY Giants organization and the Big Blue faithful, myself included of course, turning what would’ve been another boring Tuesday into an unforgettable event. Your NFL Recap: Week 10

11.14.11 Written by Raj

Mental toughness was the order of the day in Week 10. In a losing effort, Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton was the thorn in Pittsburgh’s side for most of the day before finally catching a late fourth-quarter interception bug. Matthew Stafford and Ryan Fitzpatrick both fell into early ruts and never recovered, blowing huge games for their respective teams. The early-season surprise stories are finally getting put back into place of expected mediocrity. Read the rest of this entry »

Your NFL Recap: Week Nine

11.07.11 Written by Raj

2008 was the year of perfection. Almost. A miracle catch in Super Bowl XLII by an otherwise unknown New York Giant, David Tyree, helped thwart the 19-0 quest by the New England Patriots, preventing their enshrinement as the greatest team to ever grace the turf. Three seasons removed, Tom Brady and co. finally got their shot for a little revenge on Sunday at Foxboro, Massachusetts. Read the rest of this entry »

Peyton And Eli Manning Are “Football Cops”

06.22.11 Written by J. Tinsley

Photo: Stampede Blue

Maybe in some bizarre, parallel universe Archie Manning is really Joe Jackson. This probably means Peyton and Eli are Michael and Janet. That’s no disrespect to Eli, but the analogy seemed like such a great comparison at first that I really did not have the heart to turn back. This fall, DirecTV looks to add a new cop drama to my already impressive lineup of Read the rest of this entry »

Your NFL Recap: Week 11

11.22.10 Written by S.Cadet

It seems like the NFL’s power rankings become fleeting as each week winds down. I guess that’s the beauty of the NFL in that seemingly any team with a convincing track record deserves bragging rights. With that said, it’s usually at this point of the season where we see teams emerge for late season pushes. Tis the season for implosions as well with a few franchises looking sluggish. Turkey Day isn’t here yet but some of these clubs, namely the Giants, Chargers and Colts, look like they have a mean case of itis. Let’s see if they can shake off the malaise down the stretch. Your Week 7 NFL Recap

10.26.09 Written by Gotty™

favre-2

Even though the Vikings lost, they proved themselves a formidable opponent for the Steelers. With the score @ 13-10, it was tit-for-tat all the way until the fourth quarter. Then, hell broke loose. A Favre fumble returned for a touchdown 77-yards by Lamarr Woodley. Boom! The ensuing kickoff returned by Percy Harvin for an 88-yard score. Zing! With three minutes left, the ball and a three point lead, it seemed peak time for Favre to work his magic. But a deflected pass lead to an interception and deflated hopes of Minnesota remaining undefeated. While his arm is still strong as ever, Brett’s legs are not. His limbs straight wilted while he was pursuing Keyaron Fox. Nevertheless, the V’s showed they could and should remain a contender this year.

– Where Brett’s last minute mishap was more understandable, Eli Manning just screwed the pooch and his team’s chance to win in the final minutes. While he’s looked sharp this year, whatever coverage he thought he read looked like it came from the Book of Old Error-Prone Eli. L taken, Cards win.

– Broncos on a bye, still undefeated. Colts still rolling as Peyton operated with his usual cold precision. The Saints rolled over the Dolphins as Drew Brees had a so-so performance. After looking a little ruffled early (he threw two picks early), he settled and got help from his friends Jeremy Shockey and Reggie Bush. This fourth quarter, double reverse, flying leap into the end zone by Bush = highlight reel. Read the rest of this entry »

Short Bus Eli Gets Long Money Contract

08.06.09 Written by S.Cadet

eli-manning

Elisha Manning has 97 million reasons to smile.

The Giants dropped a six year contract extension that will grant him about 15 mill a year. This deal makes him the highest paid player in the NFL and bests Peyton’s bottom line by a good seven figures. Of course the “short bus Eli” jokes will pursue despite the payday.

As a Giants fan that’s seen his ups and downs throughout his career, I don’t think he’s worth damn near 100 million bucks. Yes, he’s gotten better each year and the Giants wouldn’t have that chip if he didn’t go off late in the year and maintained momentum in the post season. Still it seems a bit excessive: even for one of the most notable quarterbacks in the L.

He won’t have much time to celebrate since he’ll have to get used to up and coming talent. Plaxico is too busy getting indicted and well-dressed Toomer signed with the Chiefs. That leaves Steve Smith (the layaway edition) and Kevin Boss really. I’m sure Hakeem Nicks will get his chances this year but it looks like Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will have their work cut out for them.

While the Giants are due for an interesting year, at least Eli is the superior Manning going by the check book.

“The Kickoff” – TSS 2008 NFL Preview

09.04.08 Written by TSSCrew

Words By Jason Hortillas

As I walked the ticker-taped streets of lower Manhattan on a cold day in February 2008, it was surreal to realize that I was at a championship parade that was not the New York Yankees. Reminding myself this was a football parade, the New York Giants did the impossible and defeated the juggernaut that was the New England Patriots – playing hooky from the 9-5 was well worth it. As you can see I’m a fan of the G-Men. But what I’ve learned from last season is anything is possible. I shitted on “aw-shucks” Eli along with the rest of the critics. But their run last year was highly admired and definitely respected, if or if not you liked them.

In football, there is no seven game series – that “go hard or go home” mentality is in design set up for the upset. For the 2008 season, we wait for the next underdog to emerge on top. Many fantasy leagues have been drafted and on Thursday night once again it begins. Already with headlines such as name change man Chad Ocho Cinco (85 is “ochenta y cinco” by the way), Hurricane Gustav in New Orleans, and the immortal Brett Favre’s “un-retirement,” sky’s the limit I suppose. So before tonight’s kick off party for the new season, Patrick M. & I gave our picks for who will take it in ’09. For the record we’re not excited cause Usher is performing. Natasha Bedingfield must die BTW. Read the rest of this entry »
