With his latest mixtape, Feature PREZentation II, Inglewood native El Prez is treating his fans to one more project before his full-length, Leadersh!t drops next year (which isn’t really as far away as it sounds). As has everything in 2011, the tape’s cover is fully 3D ready, so strap on your red-and-blues for optimal viewing. Read the rest of this entry »

Inglewood’s El Prez already gave us a party anthem with “King Kong,” now he’s providing listeners with a bit of game in the form of “Steady Mobbin.” Read the rest of this entry »
Sounding like an old school cabinet-style arcade game gone berserk, El Prez’s “I’m Gone (King Kong)” is not the typical weed-anthem. Culled from his appropriately fast-food inspired mixtape, Animal Style!, The Inglewood, CA native’s energy is much more “get up off your ass” than “puff puff pass.” Read the rest of this entry »
“Gotham Green and El Prez have hooked up with AshleyOutrageous.com and DJBooth.net to bring listeners their new collaborative EP, Inhale. The free project finds the L.A./NY dual representative and the Inglewood native (the latter a freestyle series alumnus) trading verses on six brand new cuts, Read the rest of this entry »
I could probably count on both of my hands and maybe one foot the number of male R&B singers I actually enjoy listening to. No offense to Scar, but he’s not on the list. The presence of El Prez and Aleon Craft, buoyed by SMKA’s dreamy synths and hyper hi-hats, far outweigh Scar’s opening verse. Read the rest of this entry »

Sean Falyon is like Hip-Hop’s version of the Visa card®. Not only is always everywhere you want to be, he never has a problem charging his skills to the game and if you’re not looking, he could be all in your pocket. But as proven with his new fat tape Be Everywhere, he’s more than just a party animal with access to every video shoot, album release, guest list in town. Read the rest of this entry »
“In the city of dreams/where cats gamble for cheese/and ghetto ass broads flex hard while they patting their weaves…”
El Prez is joined by Shawn Chystopher on this cut from his upcoming Animal Style! tape which fittingly will drop next Monday on PREZident’s Day. Over production by LAUSD, the duo big up their home town of Inglewood.
Sure the story’s been told time and time again, yet it never gets old. Styles & gear change, but life in the hood remains in a continuous loop like Groundhog Day. So for the young bucks there’s really no point in harping on them for bringing nothing new to table except a fresh face. We can save that for a few albums down the line.
While driving over to The Five Spot, Contra™ commented on the full moon that was on the horizon. It was at that point that we suspected the night had the potential to be magical or disastrous. And it was actually a little bit of both. The Crew disassembled from Voltron form for the last night and actually covered two events. It was at point that I learned I was to be the red cat… literally as I was thrown into video camera duties. Much respect to BK and The SP Agency, because I felt like I would need an arm transplant by the end of the night. But enough about me, on to the next one… Read the rest of this entry »
When we finally arrived at the J.Cole in-store at Vinnie’s Styles, the establishment was shoulder to shoulder with nothing but rappers, DJ’s and their managers. After briefly shaking hands and talking to the Roc Nation artist and his reps, Mike from SMKA walked up and said “Do you wanna set up a cypher outside?” Read the rest of this entry »
Just to reiterate what Gotty said yesterday, if you weren’t @ The Five Spot Friday night, it was your loss. It’s crazy what a difference a day can make, but the place was packed out. How packed? Full capacity packed for a couple of hours. Read the rest of this entry »
Ah yes, high school. This video is dope like passing folded up notes during class. Dope like “Do you like me? Check yes, no or maybe.” Read the rest of this entry »
