Play Me Some Pimpin’: Juicy J & DJ Paul’s 10 Best Willie Hutch Samples

12.08.11 Written by Greg Whitt

While I love when Three 6′s Juicy J and his production partner DJ Paul create the type of riot-inciting, elbow-throwing, mosh pit music they shut down clubs throughout the south with for years. Still, there’s nothing, and I mean nothing, better than when they get their fingers dusty with a Willie Hutch record. Read the rest of this entry »

DJ Paul Feat. Ya Boy – “Me Dats Who”

04.18.11 Written by Gotty™

This was billed as the “DJ Paul flow everybody keeps asking for…that old Triple Six flow!” Enh, it’s not inaccurate but the money referenced in the song’s title means the Three 6 of old won’t be returning any time soon. I’ve found most of their music from the past few years to be heavily driven by a new formula and type bland. Read the rest of this entry »

“I’d Rather…” – Review Of Three 6 Mafia’s Last 2 Walk

06.29.08 Written by MZ

Opportunity: noun 1. a favorable juncture of circumstances. 2. a chance for advancement or progress. [Merriam-Webster]

Opportunity is a finicky and unpredictable event, so one has to always be ready to strike when their moment arises. This occurred for Three 6 Mafia in 2005 when their break-out single “Stay Fly” dominated the airwaves and their song “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp,” garnered them an Oscar for Best Original Song. Sadly the only redeeming value this album has is as a warning to those who fail the strike when the iron is hot. Read the rest of this entry »
