Honestly, I didn’t think there was any way that Court Dunn could continue to top his previous output in the One Shot series, done in conjunction with eskay & co. Since I’ve listened to both ‘Fest & Wale’s versions of this track countless times, I just didn’t see much room for growth to make this video worth watching. But Dunn did it. And he didn’t overextend or do anything dazzling. He simply added a minor interpretive twist (the keyboard & lyrics) that makes the short a good add to the burgeoning portfolio. Possibly the most underrated advantage of being at SXSW is the ability to get actual hard copies of these street albums that get passed along the web like the Trojan virus. Sure, we live in in a digital age where there’s iPods our kid’s kids are still going to be attempting to fill, but sometimes that compact disc comes in the clutch even more. Woohoo! My dude Pill got with Court Dunn to do the visuals for “Hear Somebody Comin” as a part of the One Shot Series with NahRight. While Pill Cousy dishes lyrical paranoia, the talented Mr. Dunn managed to produce a treatment that’s impactful and unique as always.
