Let me tell you a secret about America, kids. The country has a gang of racist laws. Need an example? Just look at the way punishment for crack is handled in relation to powdered cocaine. Possessing five grams of crack means that you have a minimum five-year sentence in jail. To see that much jail time, you’d have to carry 500 grams of powdered cocaine. And, in case you didn’t know, African-Americans are caught with crack way more often than white people are. That’s why Lindsay Lohan and Amy Winehouse can get caught with a bag of blow and go to rehab and face 12 minutes in jail while your cousin is serving five years for possessing two sugar cubes-worth of crack. Inspired by ‘Ye and Rawse’s recent coke revelations on record, our friends @ Complex compiled a list of lyrical reference to coke abuse. Yes, there’s nothing like going numb, catching a drain and writing rhymes. With several artists included, Memphis has obviously been ahead of the curve on mentioning the Bolivian marching powder in their rhymes. Pretty solid list even though I think B.G.’s reference to his drug of choice may have been misinterpreted and his N.O. cohort Soulja Slim was omitted. I’m not a health nut. In fact, I’m almost certain that if you were to stab me today, I would not bleed. Instead, wisps of smoke and streams of all three flavors of Red Bull would ease out. According to scientists in Germany, cocaine would also be part of the that elixir. They recently discovered trace amounts of Cocaine in Red Bull Cola and turned it into some international “Ban Red Bull” frenzy.
