We’re around the first quarter mark of the 2012 NBA season, and it’s been difficult to ignore the hype surrounding Kyrie Irving. His stellar play continued Sunday night, as he made a game-winning layup against the Boston Celtics to give the Cavs an 88-87 victory. Read the rest of this entry »

The Cavs’ Big Payback: Cleveland Defeats Lakers 104-99

02.17.11 Written by Ben Lampin

The 2010-11 Cavaliers aren’t just bad. They’re bad on a historic level. Entering Wednesday night’s game, they had lost 36 out of their last 38 games. They hadn’t won a game in regulation since November. The last time they faced the Lakers, they were decimated, losing the contest by 55 points. If any game could be considered over before it began, it was this one. Read the rest of this entry »

2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers: 24 Losses & Counting

02.07.11 Written by MZ

When LeBron announced that he was taking his talents to South Beach this past summer no one could have imagined that this motley crew formally known as the LeBronaires would go on to make history. Most people assumed that at best the Cavs would hover around .500 and put forth a good effort in vying for the 8th seed. Nope, they had their hearts set on making history & they turned dreams into reality. Read the rest of this entry »

Behold the omniscient power of the digital media! After only a few days, the viral video of the Columbus, Ohio, golden-voiced homeless man, Ted Williams, whom TC wrote about yesterday, has already reaped rewards. And hopefully, a happy ending only present in today’s fast-pace media world. According to ESPN: Read the rest of this entry »

JJ Hickson Gets Acquainted With James Harden

12.13.10 Written by J. Tinsley

The past two weeks for the Cavaliers have reflected the weather in Cleveland: cold, dark and unforgiving. After having the entire country on their side going into the matchup against you know who and then figuratively defecated on by you know who, the wheels have fallen off the wagon. Dan Gilbert’s squad are currently in the midst of a eight game losing streak where the collective sum of defeats stands at 156 points (or 19.5 per game). Read the rest of this entry »

Obits: Cleveland Cavaliers Fans

12.03.10 Written by Gotty™

While anticipation was high, predicting the outcome of last night’s Cavs-Heat matchup didn’t require going to far out on a ledge. As the powder went up, Cavs fans high hopes went down. Yes, they jeered and taunted LeBron throughout but their team didn’t hold up its end of the bargain. The crowd went down fighting, but still perishing and losing their plan to extract revenge on The Chosen One. To bid them farewell, our friends at Ed The Sports Fan took time to pen a wonderful obituary befitting of CavsDan and his legion of fans. Read the rest of this entry »

The Return Of Cleveland’s Exiled King

12.02.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Home is a place you grow up wanting to leave, and grow old wanting to get back to.John Ed Pearce

This is unfamiliar territory. For basketball. For myself. But most importantly, for LeBron James. Never in the history of sports – or at least what I can remember – has an athlete gone from as loved to as unequivocally despised Read the rest of this entry »

Countdown To Tip Off: 5 NBA Games To Watch This Season

08.03.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Forget the very real possibility of a NBA lockout for the moment. David Stern has been using this offseason to make sure he keeps his league in the news. One thing we’ve learned about the NBA this summer is that they apparently have a thing for TV specials. Stern may have not been the biggest fan of LeBron’s version, but he’s obviously a supporter of the results it produced. Following suit this evening, the opening week and Christmas Day games will be unveiled during an hour long special on NBA TV at 7 p.m. Read the rest of this entry »

The Story Of How LeBron Was Won

07.18.10 Written by MZ

For all the public speculation about LeBron’s free agency, one could only imagine the inner workings between his camp and all the interested parties vying for his services. Usually, we’d never hear about what really went down until years after the fact, when the books about ‘Bron’s career would begin to surface. Read the rest of this entry »

Dan Gilbert Is No Longer A Witness

07.09.10 Written by TC

Nothing lasts forever, people. If flushing your goldfish in the toilet didn’t teach you that, then your first breakup certainly did. Yet and still, human nature tricks us into believing we can forcibly control the circumstances of life. As we already know, LeBron is headed south, away from his native Ohio. But for Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, that was too much to bear. So he did want any trillionaire crybaby would do — Read the rest of this entry »

Sonny Vaccaro: Jay-Z Could Bring LeBron To New York

05.24.10 Written by MZ

It was only a month ago that the world was LeBron’s oyster. Poised to make a title run, then sit back & watch the NBA participate in the LeBron sweepstakes, there didn’t seem to be anything that could derail his train. But a funny thing happened on the way to NBA immortality: between a disappointing Conference Semi-Final loss to the Celtics & rumors involving his mother and teammate Delonte West, leaving Cleveland didn’t seem like such a bad idea for once. While Cleveland always appeared to be the logical destination for LeBron’s immediate & continued basketball success, these two events will probably have more to do with his decision than he’d publicly like to admit.

With so many friends (true or new) & advisers wanting a piece of LeBron’s ear for various reasons, there may be one voice that will have a greater influence than what seemed plausible at one time. None other than the “Mike Jordan of mic recordin’,” Jay-Z, according to New York Post reports citing Sonny Vaccaro, the legendary maverick behind many a 5-star basketball camp & high dollar sneaker deals. Yes, Tony Allen Just Dunked On You, Antawn

05.14.10 Written by S.Cadet

Well, Cleveland got exiled from the playoffs once again, this time at the hands of the C’s. As much as I despise Boston (90% due to Paul Pierce), I gotta hand it to them for showing that five is greater than one: or none in the case of game five. In the meantime, Tony Allen’s monstrous dunk over Sweet n’ Lo Jamison deserves some burn since it pretty much caps how Boston beat the Lebroners: swiftly, efficiently and, according to some, unexpectedly. The Life & Times Of LeBron’s Elbow

05.07.10 Written by MZ

Cleveland is a city that lives and dies (mainly dies) by its professional sporting teams. It’s so bad that instead of having banners to hang their hats on, they have losses. Heartbreaking losses & signature plays to be more specific. Say The Catch, Red Right 88, The Drive, The Shot, The Fumble or Edger Renteria’s extra inning hit & nothing more needs to be said. The only thing more frustrating than these epic plays is that Cleveland teams are always on the verge of success when they occur. It’s one thing to never even sniff success, but it’s something entirely different to have it snatched from you grasp over & over again.

This season, the hopes of Northeast Ohio rest on the shoulders & elbow of LeBron James. His sore elbow, which unless you’ve been living under a rock, has been the talk of the media over the past week and a half. While test results have come back negative, on look at James’ last game against the Celtics will show something is bothering him.  Be it mental, physical, fatigue or some combination of all these factors, the public wants to know what’s going on.

Thanks to the marvelous powers of Twitter, we can get information straight from the horse’s elbow’s mouth.  Striking a balance between informative tidbits & entertaining quips, 11 days & 6,608 followers later, LeBron’s elbow is in the process of taking Twitter by storm. Below I’ve provided a sampler on the genius that is Lebron’s Elbow.

The only question that remains is whether this year will be remembered as The Elbow if the Cavs do happen to lose.

April 27th 10:56pm

With these unassuming words of encouragement LeBron’s most famous appendage made his voice heard for the first time. Little did we know the comedic gold that would be shortly following.

April 27th 10:59pm

Obviously not his first time at the rodeo, LeBron’s Elbow is well versed in post doctor’s visit procedures.

April 28th 4:06pm

With MRI results coming back negative, it was time for a confession. I’ll have to remember this home remedy come late August when the pollen count rises.

April 30th 1:20pm

My personal fave & the one that initially led me down the rabbit hole.

May 1st 3:04pm

This explains a lot about Big Baby. A lot. Someone in Bristol needs to get this guy a segment on NBA Shootaround.

May 1st 8:30pm

Didn’t we all buddy, didn’t we all.  Hindsight being 20/20, we probably would’ve been better with game one going into quadruple overtime.

May 2nd 2:04pm

Understandably miffed for not being mentioned at all, this omission could be proverbial straw that breaks the Cavs back (& season).

May 3rd 7:59pm

Don’t blame game two on the ‘bow. He’s just a perturbed as Cavalier fans.

May 5th 5:38am

Can you really blame the fella? Three+ MRI’s have to affect you in one way or another… and we all know what too much radiation did to Terry Crews’ bicep.

May 6th 4:05pm

Watch out Chuck Norris… LeBron’s gunning for you suburban legend title.

Follow @LeBronsElbow to keep up with the latest shenanigans.

Sidebar: Will these playoffs will be remembered as “The Elbow” if the Cavs don’t win the chip?
