Steve Urkel Is Cee-Lo Green In New “Cry Baby” Video

08.08.11 Written by Gotty™

Jaleel White, most well known for his role as Steve Urkel, plays Cee-Lo in the The Lady Killer’s latest video. I can’t believe Cee-Lo didn’t ask for Stefan instead of allowing them to cast Mr. “Did I Do That?” Read the rest of this entry »

The iPod Shuffle – “Everything I Love”

04.04.10 Written by Gotty™

height="304" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-102510" />

I’m not all that religious but I have a full sixteen years of church-going under my belt, which is the required amount if you grow up in The Bible Belt. If I remember the story of Easter well enough, I imagine that when Jesus rose to shock the hell out of the people of Galilee he would have a few newly-healed lepers to walk behind him carrying a boombox and playing his theme music. Rod & staff (they comfort him) in tow, imagine the imposing figure he would pose to non-believers as Cee-Lo’s belting chorus and Kanye’s blaring beat rumbled in the background. “My Wiz Play The Flute”

04.25.09 Written by TSSCrew

Words by Jesse H.

I don’t know the reason, but nearly every Hip-Hop track I’ve heard that utilizes the flute is phenomenal. It’s an interesting strand, but it makes sense. While it certainly isn’t the manliest of instruments, hearing a flute on the track says something about the producer; that they have searched for creative samples which expand their musical palette beyond the standard drum kit/bass/synth combo. Here’s five flute-flecked Hip-Hop highlights:

Nas- “Nas Is Like” (Prod. by DJ Premier) — Obviously, a stone cold Five Cig flute standard. The flute brings to mind an image of gliding across the top of a jungle canopy, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon-style. Near the top of the laundry list of Premier’s greatest beats.

Ghostface Killer – “The Forest” (Prod. by The Alchemist) — The most dynamic flute sample on this list, the fluttering whistle of the flutes is a perfect contrast to Read the rest of this entry »

The soundtrack to our daily grind, all in a nice & neat format. You know what it is © Cliff Harris. It’s Crew Love.

C-Rayz Walz & Swave Sev – “The Family Crest”

This has to be one of the iller tribute songs I’ve heard, done by one of favorite MC’s for one my favorite duos. C-Rayz and Swave Sev pay homage to Gangstarr with cleverly worded web of the albums, songs, productions and musical significance that built the legacy. More than anything this song has sparked my annual Daily Operation or Mass Appeal debate which has dominated my playlist…Daily Operation.

Z-Man – “Street Creed Need Me”

Z-Man spits so much relevance on this one the whole song is a quotable. Topics cover the spectrum and the wordplay is seasoned with too many flavors to favor. Off the Machete Vox sampler Sneak Preview the DNAE Beats produced banger is undisputable, plus you can’t front on the title.

The Ni##a Experience…

08.03.08 Written by TC

Is it a safe assumption that Cee-Lo was more persuasive in getting his ethnic points across in one verse than Nas was in an entire album?

Better believe that Slick…

In what was possibly the most responsible abuse of the word “nigga” ever witnessed in a song, (Lo dropped approximately 30 N-bombs in under 3 minutes), the prelude for Goodie Mo-B’s sophomore stride served not only as an immediate attention grabber, but as an internal analysis of one of the most controversial words this world has ever encountered. “Man, What Up With All These Questions?”

05.23.08 Written by Gotty™

We’re always talking about memorable moments in the history of this rap thing. One of the most memorable first appearances that’s rarely mentioned…

Outkast Featuring Goodie Mob – Git Up, Git Out

Cee-Lo’s verse.

Before he was singin’ with Danger Mouse, he was an integral & one of the more anticipated voices in the Dungeon Family. And with his bars on this one, he covered the disgruntled frustration that many teens and young adults feel as they go through life’s transitions. Please note that I didn’t section it off by race. All teens could relate & specifically remember my white dudes jammin’ to this song & noddin too, albeit not always on time.

Shoutouts to Cee-Lo Goodie. Thanks for gettin it in with this verse & blessing us with what’s been a memorable career.
