Cassidy got arrested today in Jersey today, suspected to be involved in two homicides. Sounds like 2005 all over again. Read the rest of this entry »
Believe it or not, I’m known for more than just my preference in Jordans. I like to pride myself in being able to see a rising star coming a mile away then bragging to my friends about how I was playing Rapper A’s music before he hit the mainstream. It’s that snobbery that made me want to write for TSS so that I could say “I told you so” to thousands of people instead of just my circle of friends. Read the rest of this entry »
Earlier this year, the unfortunate death of of Keith “Guru” Elam from Gang Starr saw the end of an era where a producer and MC created a unified duality to consolidate the quality control for an entire LP. Or has it? 2010 has seen a rebirth of the practice where cohesiveness trumps catchiness. Read the rest of this entry »
After parting ways with Swizz Beatz and his Full Surface imprint, Cassidy is starting back at square one with the release of his fourth studio album C.A.S.H. (Cass A Straight Hustla). Acquired by Carmelo Anthony’s Kross Over Entertainment, the Philly native isn’t going at it alone, but he’s definitely in a rebuilding phase. Read the rest of this entry »
Since Swizz would rather spend time with Alicia (and no one is blaming him), Cassidy has to drink-n-two-step all by his lonesome. However, he’s not moping across the dance floor no more than he’s getting his groove on. Back with a new deal with Carmelo Anthony’s Krossed Out Entertainment and the horribly-titled C.A.S.H. (Cash A Straight Hustla)–a step up from the horrendous Cash Always Stays Hard–the Philly renegade is on the boards like his for his latest jawn like his boss on good days. Gotty™ isn’t the only one hobknobbing (||) with Nike these days. For the Staten Island rendition of the 1LOVE series, the House of Hoops decided to feature my brother from another, more Italian mother, Emilio Sparks. Read the rest of this entry »
Mr. Thanksgiving and the producers who do it better the 2nd time, Cookin Soul, come through with another freebie on this glorious Tuesday to make your iPod smile. When is the last time you heard a compilation mixtape that was worthy of constant spins? More than likely it was a CS presentation. And with Drama giving his Gangsta Grillz stamp, it seems like they could be invincible. Read the rest of this entry »
If you couldn’t tell by the leaks or the swagger, Sugar Tongue Slim a.k.a. STS has a silky smooth flow but he still believes in pushing the creative boundaries in Hip-Hop to the limit. That’s why Demand More 2 isn’t your average tape just by your average fly-by-night rapper. Featuring appearances by the Money Making Jam Boys (Black Thought, Truck North & Dice Raw), production by Don Cannon, Sean C & LV, see what STS has been brewing from his journeys from Philly to Atlanta and back again. Sugar Tongue Slim’s “Parachute” is one of those records that leaves you swaying back and fourth in your chair, clinching your fists and wincing like your bracing for an ensuing tetanus shot. Read the rest of this entry »

“I Hope the Crips don’t kill Clifford cause he a cool dude.
And will they force Diego to join the Latin Kings.

Admittedly, I’m not too familiar with who Black Deniro is, but apparently he has enough pull in Philly to get Gillie The Kid, Cassidy and Beanie Sigel on a track together (Gillie has beefed with both Cass and Beans in the past, by the way). Over one of those repetitive beats that allow for an artist to spit aimlessly about Read the rest of this entry »
Yes, that’s Carmelo doing the hosting duties, as Cass is on Melo’s new label, Krossover Entertainment (who says creativity is dead?). But looking @ Joc, I’m not sure why Carmelo would do anything involving American dollars or even pesos and Block & Bad Boy. Carmelo, you’re gonna get financially raped because while you’re shooting jumpers, those dudes are liable to cook the books lol. Anyways, what do I really know…besides what countless other artists have attested to. Anyone seen Loon? Thought so.
Hit the jump for what you came here for. Read the rest of this entry »
