Yesterday, I thought there was a glitch in the Matrix when an email hit my inbox with the subject line “Cappadonna ‘Milk The Cow’ Video.” Apparently, everything is okay Forbez DVD just embarked on a new initiative to shoot visuals for songs that deserved a video but never received one and decided to start Cap’s classic. As one of the more memorable moments from his 1998 debut, The Pillage, I fully support their decision and can’t wait to see what other now oldies they have planned to release.

Two quick notes:

1. I have no idea what spastic dance move Cap was doing around the 20 second mark.

2. People talk about ’88 and ’94, but do remember that ’98 was one of the best years ever for rap.

Yeah it’s that time again.

Too often do we sift through the predictable media cycle of artists yelling how “crazy” their album is or even fixing their lying ass mouths to utter the other “C” word — classic. How about these C’s: cut the crap. Each year, the allure of the album continues to decrease thanks in part to overhyped, superfluous projects that only possess a handful of good songs. RZA Feat. Method Man & Cappadonna – “Wu-Wear: The Garment Renaissance”

Often cited as the official 10th member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Cappadonna has managed to have a noticeable solo career without a direct support line from the group’s core members. Perhaps this feeling of disdain is motivation for his latest LP, the ridiculously titled Slang Prostitution. The album’s feature interludes exhibit a composed Cappadonna confirming his affinity to God and his desires to rise above all who’s done wrong against him. And while sticks and stones may not be able to keep “A Good Man Down,” poor beat and track selections will surely plunder a rap album into the pits of hell. Read the rest of this entry »
