Anthony Hamilton Feat. Tarsha McMilian – “I Hurt You”

09.26.11 Written by J. Tinsley

With each new Anthony Hamilton track that surfaces, Gotty and I find ourselves more and more confused and intrigued by this method. But I think I may have figured it out. What if these songs are being released in succession to tell a story? Read the rest of this entry »

Anthony Hamilton – “My Friend”

09.24.11 Written by J. Tinsley

More Anthony Hamilton records continue to surface and I have not the first clue where it’s from. At this point, something is better than nothing and as long as he’s releasing music in some form, I’ll just be thankful for that. Read the rest of this entry »

Anthony Hamilton – “High School Love”

08.23.11 Written by David D.

I took a poetry class in college once and my professor forbade us from writing about high school love because, quite frankly, nobody gives a sh*t about it except for people actually still in high school. As we get older, high stories do lose a bit of relevance and luster, but Anthony Hamilton manages to pull off the high school love story with his new tune, “High School Love.” Read the rest of this entry »

A Trio Of New Anthony Hamilton Songs

07.21.11 Written by J. Tinsley

Just so we’re clear, Anthony Hamilton’s “The Point Of It All” track is on my list of personal favorite songs of the past five years. But since that record and album dropped nearly three years ago, Ant has been infamously quiet. Until now. Read the rest of this entry »

Depression Sets In: 5 Songs For The NFL & NBA Lockouts

06.30.11 Written by J. Tinsley

Was it because I sold my soul, packed my duffle bag and went to South Beach to see LeBron get a ring? Was it because I convince myself every year the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl? Was it because I cried Rick Ross tears of joy when the Celtics and Steelers lost? Was it because I took for granted the NBA and NFL would somehow figure out this STD of a labor situation? Jill Scott Feat. Anthony Hamilton – “So In Love”

04.13.11 Written by Gotty™

I stumbled across Jill Scott’s new song and BV’s “Why We Need Jill Scott” at the same time earlier today.

“(T)here’s nothing all that extraordinary about ‘So In Love,’ which is the debut single from her forthcoming ‘Light of the Sun.’ Read the rest of this entry »

Izza Kizza x Nick Catchdubs – 10:15 Mixtape

01.05.11 Written by TC

If someone was to plant the seed in your head that the relatively unknown Izza Kizza was a permanent fixture in Timbaland’s music camp, it would make perfect sense the moment you’re exposed to his unorthodox delivery. From the clunky flow to the punchy wordplay — hell even voice makes him sound like the ventriloquist behind everything related to Timbo’s vocals. But stars can’t be born on the sideline so he’s setting his record predominately straight with 10:15, mixed by Nick Catchdubs. Read the rest of this entry »

The iPod Shuffle – “Do You Feel Me (Remix)”

12.10.10 Written by J. Tinsley

I’ve never been a movie buff, so taking my word where American Gangster ranks amongst Denzel’s best work should come with a grain of salt. However, anytime a director can create an enjoyable film about drug dealing with an A-List actor, that’s a win-win in my book. Read the rest of this entry »

Fonzworth Bentley Feat. Anthony Hamilton – “Greener” Video

07.01.10 Written by Gotty™

Any chances of C.O.L.O.U.R.S. being added to G.O.O.D. Music Day in September? The odds are slim but still worth asking because maybe they could at least package it as an EP that comes as a bonus with Kanye’s album. Read the rest of this entry »

Various Artists – “We Are The World (25 For Haiti)” Video

02.12.10 Written by TC

Although the words “donate,” “Haiti” and “help” are no longer on the tip of every newscaster’s tongue across the planet, the crisis that left the Caribbean country in ruins is still an ongoing ordeal. There’s plenty of charities and movements out there for every able participant to contribute to in some form or fashion, and tonight unveiled the regurgitation of one the most popular ones ever created. “Embracing The Struggle…”

01.07.10 Written by J. Tinsley

anthony-hamilton

Anthony Hamilton will presumably never get the recognition he deserves, and that’s perfectly alright. It comes a point in time when understanding nationwide acclaim isn’t always needed for an artist to leave a permanent impact on the culture. Many, especially our parents generation, associate today’s music with misogynistic lyrics, lack of introspective content and the love of money acting as the main influence behind the creation of music. Nappy Roots Feat. Anthony Hamilton – “Down ‘N Out”

07.14.09 Written by Gotty™

nappy_roots_pressphoto

Remember 2002 when Nappy Roots & Anthony Hamilton hit the scene together with “Po’ Folks”? Then they followed it up in 2005 with Wooden Leather’s “Sick ‘N Tired.”

Sticking to the script, N.C. & Kentucky hooked up again for their second single off The Humdinger, entitled “Down ‘N Out.” A bluesy with a lightly laced harmonica, “Down ‘N Out” is a “hold on, be strong” song sparked by A.Ham’s crooning & uplifting verses by the Nappy word-slingers.

Fonzworth Bentley Feat. Anthony Hamilton – “Greener”

04.27.09 Written by Gotty™

It’s the facial expressions. He’s always making some face that just throws me off from fully taking him seriously. The facial expressions & the poses he strikes (“Strike a pose, Vogue!“) are always sus and causing me to silently question myself, like I lose some macho for admitting that the music is appealing.

Otherwise, Fonsworth stands above the majority of the other artists on the G.O.O.D. label when it comes to song structure, concept & his delivery. It’s as if he’s got the formula under wraps, written on Read the rest of this entry »
