Jay-Z celebrated the reopening of his 40/40 Club on Thursday night with a star-packed crowd which included Spike Lee, ?uestlove, model Selita Ebanks, Yankees’ pitcher C.C. Sabathia, Ashanti and more. But no invited guest was more surprising than Warren Buffett, Read the rest of this entry »
Every time we see Rihanna, she’s either on tour or recovering from tour. Her latest album is closing in on a platinum certification by the day and that type of dedication generally deserves a break, or smoke break. Read the rest of this entry »
For anyone who doesn’t know how arena seating in professional wrestling works, typically when the stadiums are bare, they black out the top rows and bring everyone down to the lower bowl. Well, aside from just becoming junior varsity, apparently my Pistons are also turning into 1996-era WWF, because two regular ol’ dudes were just max relaxin’ between Vince Carter and LeBron’s step-dad on the Mavs bench during last night’s game. The Nets’ Monday night 108-94 loss against the Pacers was notable for two reasons. The L marked Jersey’s fifth straight defeat in as many total games and it was the game where Shelden Williams dunked his face in. This photo of Williams’ self-obliteration could potentially be the funniest self-induced head impact shot since a certain Redskins QB rammed his head into a wall. Read the rest of this entry »
Not too long ago, this picture of a young, wide-eyed Kobe Bryant came across the computer screen and instantly threw my mind in a frenzy. An undoubted future first ballot Hall Of Famer and arguably greatest player of the generation, Bean’s career has seen so many peaks and valleys it’s often easy to forget the early years of his career. While everyone else was in hot pursuit of the Concords and other December releases, I spent my days tracking down a pair of the “Blake Show” Hyperdunk Supreme from Nike’s “Lockout Pack.” House Of Hoops’ releases always pose a headache when you’re hundreds of miles removed from those stores and there’s no accompanying online release, but the chase admittedly plays a role in the sneaker’s allure in many ways. While we can’t quite put our finger on it, something besides Lindsay Lohan’s panties were missing from her recent Playboy spread. Whatever it was, the folks down under at Maxim’s Aussie department managed to bring it back with her 2012 cover to spring in the new year with sticky pages for all their readers. “We real players but we really don’t play like Joseph Forte, got doja all day…” – Lil Wayne, “Best Of Me” Freestyle
One of these days when I write my Book Of Basketball, there will be a section dedicated to Joe Forte. Read the rest of this entry »
How many remember that 56 years ago today Rosa Parks said “no” and all hell broke loose in America? In hindsight, whether it’s seen as an iconic decision or simply a common act which received worldwide acclaim, Parks’ “fight or flight” moment Read the rest of this entry »
For those into keeping a tally of good things to happen throughout the year, you can scratch an earmark into your tablet for the future with the arrival of Sports Illustrated’s 2012 Swimsuit Calendar, shot in the Philippines in Kalibo. It’s polite and completely alright to stare at Brooklyn Decker, Kate Upton, Irina Shayk and the rest of the lovely ladies while they strike poses to help you remember those important dates. When I came across this picture of Air Jordan jamming in his NC college dorm while wasting time on imgur earlier, my buddy who’s been a diehard MJ fan since the womb said he’d seen it before. I had not and found the nostalgia quite cool. Read the rest of this entry »
Ivan dug up this obscure gem and it’s nothing short of amazing as The King of Pop was getting his thug on for “The Way You Make Me Feel” video. I remember VH1′s Pop-Up Video reporting that MJ stayed in his trailer for 1984′s “Beat It” video shoot, employing local gangsters to decorate the background. Several years later for the release of Bad, Mike apparently got the Kool-Aid out his bloodstream and embraced his Gary, Indiana roots. Read the rest of this entry »
There isn’t a better space on the Internet for finding dope pictures than Tumblr. Take this one, for example, I came across from my lil’ homie Cam’s page of the OG Black sitcom father, Heathcliff Huxtable, and baby Olivia. Read the rest of this entry »
