2015 Seems So Long Away Thanks To This ‘The Legend Of Zelda Wii U’ Trailer

If you played one Legend of Zelda game you played them all, right? Not really, they’re unique and mostly worth playing outside of the wretched CD-i games. The latest LoZ on Wii U, however, looks to successfully retread the original game’s design.

The Legend of Zelda on the NES usually doesn’t get categorized as an open world game…well at least until this week. Either way its screen by screen orientation somehow made its entire world feel connected as did A Link To The Past. The 3D Zelda games lost this unity since they’re spaces set by boundaries and/or share entry points.

Wii U’s proper Zelda game looks to do away with its predecessors graphic limitations and players to travel as far as their eyes can see. Not much else is known about the title but the prospect’s an enticing one. Open-world games oftentimes let their vast surroundings, side-missions and distractions come at the expense of unfocused campaigns. So the playground feels incomplete without a constant sense of purpose for the player. LoZ games never lacked in setting clear goals for its audience. So combining that focus with creative, open-ended experiences prevalent in these games has us dancing like Carlton at the prom.

Legend of Zelda Wii U doesn’t launch until 2015. The wait has us in Bart Scott-level anticipation, though. Here’s hoping for more info sooner rather than by next year’s E3.
