Memphis had a nice run, but all good things must come to an end. Fearing a second round without Oklahoma City Making sure that ballplayers don’t get the wrong idea, the NBA handed Zach Randolph a one-game suspension for punching of Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams.

*Breaks out glasses, counts on fingers*

So… if the series is tied, 3-3… and three plus three is six… and the next game of the series is, in fact, Game 7… Zach Randolph will be riding the pine for the biggest game of Memphis’ season. Considering that Randolph is their leading scorer and arguably the best player on the Grizz, and the obvious television dip in Memphis advancing over the Thunder, the timing is more than ill-fated. It’s suspicious.

Tough break, especially for those of us who enjoy the Grizzlies’ annual deeper-than-expected playoff run. Maybe next year.
