We can’t front. The adidas Top Ten x 2 Chainz ’2 Good To Be T.R.U.’ is a hell of a shoe. Mr. Hair Weave Killa came through with a strong V-Day release that may have flown under the radar due to the All-Star bombardment of kicks. adidas Originals brought back out the Top Ten Hi for its 35th anniversary and aside from the promo joints that came with a gold-toned toothbrush, these probably go the hardest. Scratch that, these definitely go the hardest.
The entire shoe (including the midsole) is draped in a leather faux croc skin. Covering the midsole with the same material as the upper gives the kicks a seamless appearance, kind of like the Reebok x Melody Ehsani Reebok Pump Omni Lites. A small but important detail when you’re touting ratchety opulence that 2 Chainz does so well.
The three stripes are accented with a different animal hide pattern, providing just a tiny bit of contrast to the tonal shoe. The gold toned accents are just the right hue as well. No one wants that super bright, swap meet orange-colored gold on a shoe for stunting. That shit just screams bootleg.
For $130, these have a lot going for them and it’s more than just the name of the artist behind them. Big-ups to adidas for cranking out yet another strong, quality retro.
