As law enforcement officials continue to unravel just what happened to leave 22-year-old rapper Doe B dead, his family and friends laid his body to rest with a memorial service held in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday, January 4.

T.I. was on hand to deliver a eulogy for the Grand Hustle artist, born Glenn Thomas, who he met and signed only a few years prior. “It’s very rare that you can find somebody at the age of 20-21 and sit them down in front of somebody that they aspire to be like and they are composed and poised and postured,” T.I. said of Thomas’ maturity. “That is what drew me to him, even more than the music.”

And in his death, several artists have stepped in the booth to pay their respects to the slain rapper. The latest, Young Scooter, uses the opening verse of “Letter 2 The Streets” to speak on the shared connections and experiences between himself and Doe.

“He was born a country boy, n***a just like me
Tip blessed him with a chance, but he didn’t survive these streets
N****s hate every day, that’s the way the game goes
Gotta keep some shooters with me when I rock these shows”

Currently, Montgomery Police are holding two suspects – Jason McWilliams, 25, and Darius Thomas, 25 – without bond in the murders. A third victim, Timnorius Hamilton, died of his injuries on January 3. Six others were also injured in the shooting.
